Correct! I did use some of the images from the movie as inspiration, so it is a direct reference indeed, well spotted. The set and clothes' department on that trilogy was simply epic and it serves as a good example.

In this particular case, to give you some background story, the elements of the armor are designed to resemble the pedals of the sacred flower-symbol for this particular race, while the helmet and large shield have references to the Hoplite armor parts of Ancient Greece.

Ahhh, I see. I myself enjoy pretty much all things elven, and have ever since I read R. A. Salvatore's Dark Elf trilogy when I was 10 (I suppose my favorite variety of elf is obvious based on that, lol). I watched Battle of the Five Armies not long ago, and while I find beauty in the elven armors, they often seem too stiff to be truly elven; They're very... Human, to be blunt. While I love them overall, my tastes in the elven armor - And I suppose armor in general - department are different - The movie armors are a good depiction of what the elven version of full plate would look like, but I overall dislike full plate. For an army, those armors are perfect.

I definitely like this armor, though, very different from the movie armors while still resembling them to a degree. The shading is well done, the proportions are perfect and the pose is simple yet elegant; It doesn't need a silly combat stance to get the message across. Very good if I do say so myself.
