I was never really one to go out for a date. I've always been very shy and withdrawn. I was in my late 20s and still a virgin. However, one day I decided to start looking on the internet for a date. I came across this profile for a young woman in my age group in my area who loved cartoons and Pokemon just like I did and on top of it, she was a furry just like I was! I was stoked, to say the least. Maybe if it didn't blossom into a full-on relationship, we could still be great friends with each other. Her name was Michelle Bounder. Her last name made me wonder if it was her given birth name or her fursona name and she was a kangaroo.
As I waited at the curb for her car to pull up, I stared at my iPod and 8:00 AM showed back. I began to listen to some Poets Of the Fall on a quiet volume when I heard a car pull up. I shut off my iPod and sealed it up in my fanny pack which I had slung over my shoulder. I looked over to see a small blue car with a license plate for a state I didn't even recognize. Getting up from the curb, I walked over to the car and looked into the driver's side window. Inside it sat a 6 foot tall anthropomorphic kangaroo. He had brown fur and a long snout that was about seven inches protruded from his face. His eyes were a vibrant, almost hypnotic sky blue and the only articles of clothing he wore was a sleeveless, open beige cargo vest and a red bandanna with white spots tied around his neck. He stared at me a couple seconds before speaking up in an Australian accent, "You Kurt Penner?"
I nodded, "Yeah, I'm Kurt. Who are you?"
"Mitch Bounder." He extended his paw and I shook it. Maybe this handsome kangaroo was Michelle's father?
"Nice to meet you." I replied, not exactly how to respond to this situation, my social awkwardness creeping up on me.
"So are you ready to have a fun little date?" Mitch smiled at me through half-lidded eyes.
"Um.......okay." I replied, "So um......is this Michelle your daughter?"
"Yeah." His ears wilted sadly, "I guess you could say that, mate."
Shrugging, I walked over to the passenger's side door and opened it, sitting down in the passenger's seat, "Just to be clear, you're a talking kangaroo, right?"
Mitch blinked a few times then raised his eyebrow at me, "Well, as long as you aren't implying that I'm a wallaby then we'll be just fine."
I just chuckled a bit, "Yeah, you're simply too tall to be a wallaby."
"Damn right I am, mate!" Mitch laughed, giving me a hearty slap on the back.
"So what are we doing when we get to your house?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Just some Netflix and chill, mate. Nothing too fancy." The kangaroo replied as a friendly smile crossed his handsome muzzle.
Mitch turned the car key and started the ignition. Suddenly, strange blue dust with white sparkles began emitting from the engine and the windshield fogged up with a strange, thick mist. I blinked in confusion and he just patted me on the back, "No need to be so scared, Kurt. My car always does this when I travel between worlds."
"Between worlds?" I asked.
"Yeah, mate. I live in a place called Beastville. Animals may not talk in your world but where I come from, it's perfectly normal." Mitch replied, his bright blue eyes sparkling.
"As a furry, I find that to be extremely exciting." I replied in amazement, "I've always fantasized hanging out with talking animals."
"Guess you dream is about to come true today then, mate." Mitch laughed as he pressed a button on the dashboard of his car with his claw. A blinding flash of white light shone through the winsheild and instantly, I noticed the car was in front of a very different house. The sky was pink instead of blue and the clouds that floated in the sky were green.
Both of us stepped out of the car and Mitch put his arm around me, "Welcome to my house, Kurt. Guess I'll be showing you around." The kangaroo opened the front door to his house and we both stepped inside. It was a nice, modest real estate house just like my group home. Nothing too fancy but not too shabby, either.
Mitch and I paced through the house and the kangaroo was giving me a tour of his place. The first room we came across was on the right side of the hallway and as I opened the door, I noticed many guitars were covering the walls of the room. Mitch chuckled a bit a rubbed the back of his head with his paw, "I used to be in a rock band when I was younger. Ya see, your typical kangaroo seeks out a boxing career but I'm a pacifist so I went for a more musical route. Not only was I the lead guitarist but also the lead singer. The band was called The Rock Hoppers. I was the only kangaroo in the band, everyone else was a penguin."
"I see." I replied, snickering at the thought of a penguin playing on a massive drum kit, "What sort of music did you play exactly?"
"Oh, just some AOR and Melodic Rock. You know, music similar to Styx, Journey and Night Ranger, mate." The kangaroo replied.
"That's nice." I replied, "AOR is one of my favorite music genres."
We left the room and continued down the hall to another room. This room was quite strange as it was full of plants and the temperature seemed different than the rest of the house. Mitch turned to me, "This room is full of the plants than my wife takes care of....." His ears wilted in sadness and he looked down, "Or at least she used to....."
"What do you mean used to?" I blinked in shock, "You were a married man?"
"Yeah, Katrina meant so much to me, Kurt. She was practically my world and she was gonna have a baby." Mitch's tone shifted and he clenched his paws in anger, "Stupid drunk driver, if only he'd just taken mass transit."
Mitch blinked back the salty sting of hot tears as I put my hand on his arm, "I myself lost my mother back in 2009 to a sickness. Losing a loved one must be pretty difficult."
The kangaroo dragged a paw across his face, wiping the tears from his striking blue eyes, "You can say that again, mate." He turned to me and gave me a weak smile, "Let's go to the last room of the hallway, it's my bedroom. I've got a wide screen TV with tons of channels."
"What do you feel like watching? I'm mostly into cartoons, myself." I replied, smiling back at Mitch.
"So am I, I've always thought sports were just a tad overrated. There's nothing like a good episode of Animaniacs or Tiny Toons." Mitch replied with a grin.
"You sir, have excellent taste." I laughed, patting the roo on the back. And so, the two of us walked down the hallway and entered the room on the very end. Mitch opened the door and I was greeted to a room full of posters of hair metal bands and animation cells covering the walls. In the far left corner of the room was a king sized bed with tan colored sheets.
I walked on over to the bed and sat down on it. It felt so soft and comfortable. I lay down for a few seconds, wondering exactly what we were going to watch while Mitch rummaged through the drawer in the nearby dresser. There was a long silence before the kangaroo finally broke it, "So Kurt, wouldya like to see the love of my life?"
"Sure." I replied with a shrug.
Mitch sat down on the bed next to me and handed me a framed picture of his wife, "Ain't she a beauty?"
I chuckled a bit, "I don't blame you one bit for falling in love with her. She's indeed very beautiful." I handed the picture back to Mitch and there was a long silence between the two of us. You could almost hear a pin drop on the floor.
It was then that I noticed that Mitch had a silver tear trickling down his muzzle. It zig-zagged its way off his nose and landed on the glass protecting the framed picture, "Katrina....."
There was a few long seconds of silence before the kangaroo broke into sobs, "Oh Kurt, I just miss her SO much!" Mitch wept with hot tears running down his snout, leaving dark and salty rivers from the corners of his eyes to the tip of his nose as he hung his head in mourning.
Normally, I'm not a very compassionate or affectionate person but there was this adorable kangaroo just crying his eyes out in front of me. Cute, crying animals always hit a chord with me. Taking initiative, I cupped my hand under his chin and leaned forward, licking the tears running down Mitch's long snout and nose with my tongue. A primal yet tender gesture. I could feel myself blushing as I pulled back, savoring the salty sweetness of kangaroo tears on my tongue.
Mitch blinked at me a few times and gave a weak sniffle, "You must be one brazen bloke to just lick my tears off my snout like that, mate."
I chuckled a bit, "Brazen? What are you talking about? I'm a complete and total coward. I just can't stand the sight of a precious cinnamon roll like you crying."
"Precious cinnamon roll?" The kangaroo sniffed, wiping his damp snout with his bandanna.
"Of course!" I replied, wrapping my arms around Mitch and pulling him in for a close hug. The kangaroo hugged me back, resting his head on my shoulder as I stroked and massaged his back until he was finally calm.
"You're a sweet bloke, Kurt but you can just be so damn weird." Mitch teased, giving me a thankful lick on the cheek.
I reached up and scratched him behind his ears, "Yeah, but weird is good as far as I'm concerned."
Mitch finally emitted a chuckle, "Ain't that the truth. After all, I was the one who catfished you. Sorry bout that, mate. I guess I was just so lonely and desperate for companionship that I had no other choice. Not many people would trust a talking, vest-clad humanoid kangaroo."
"Well then, I guess I'm not most people, then." I replied, removing my hand from Mitch's ears. It was then that I gazed deep into his beautiful sky blue eyes and a smile slowly formed on my lips and a blush on my cheeks, "Say Mitch, would you mind it if I laid my head in your lap and snuggled with your thighs a bit? They look so warm and cuddly. I hope you don't mind."
"So long as you don't suck my dick, then go right ahead, mate. I won't mind. In fact, I quite like being cuddled. I suffer from mild depression so it often helps lift my spirits." The kangaroo replied, crossing his arms with a smile slowly forming on his muzzle.
Still blushing, I buried my head into Mitch's warm, soft lap and wrapped his arms around his thick yet athletic beastly thighs. It felt just like a warm and furry pillow as I rested my head on it, "Mmmmmmm.......feels so good. I find this to be pretty relaxing."
"I bet you do, mate. I bet you do." Mitch smirked as he rubbed my back. And with that, I slowly closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep on a warm, furry kangaroo lap.
A couple hours later, I spring awake and noticed the lap I was laying on was gone. I looked around the room and noticed that Mitch was gone. I slowly walked down the hall and down the stairs to the kitchen where I saw Mitch sitting and eating a hamburger, "Heya, Kurt. Glad to see you've woken up from your little nap. I bought us some McDonalds."
"McDonalds?" I blinked in confusion.
Mitch blushed and scratched his head a bit in response, "Heh heh, cooking was never really one of my strong suits. I burn everything I touch."
"That's fine, I'll just stick with the fries. I'm not much of a burger person." I replied honestly, taking a seat next to the kangaroo, "So Mitch, if you are a widow then why did you catfish me in the first place? Are you bisexual?"
The kangaroo just blushed even deeper, "Well........to tell you the truth, mate. No, I'm as straight as an arrow when it comes to sex. But when cuddling and kissing are involved, I'm perfectly fine doing it with either gender. Maybe it's cause I'm kinda lonely and just wish to be held."
"As someone whose kind of a loner, I can't really relate to you on that but then again, I guess you could call me a late bloomer." I replied, patting Mitch on the back on his vest and rubbing his back slowly.
"Anyway, I'm afraid our date will end here. I've got some more songwriting to do so I'll need a little alone time. After the band and I split up, I kinda went solo. Once we finish our meal, I'll drive ya home, Kurt."
I smiled at Mitch and nodded. The two of us ate the meal together and headed out the front door. I sat down in the passenger's seat of Mitch's car and strapped myself in. He pressed a button on the car's dashboard and in a flash, we teleported back to the driveway of my house.
The kangaroo reached over and petted me on the head, ruffling my hair, "So Kurt, how did you like our little date?"
"For a catfish, it was amazing. I've always wanted to cuddle with an actual anthro so it turned out much better than I was expecting." I replied, fixing my hair back in place.
With a nod, Mitch smiled softly at me and closed his eyes, a couple warm tears rolling down his muzzle, "I'm so glad you think so, Kurt."
This time, I could tell that the kangaroo was crying tears of happiness. Leaning in close, I tenderly kissed Mitch's tears off his long muzzle and savored the salty drops of joy off my tongue as I licked them off my lips. I then gave him a kiss on his nose and hugged him again.
"Just as I was sayin, you're so damn weird, Kurt but I'm so glad I met you." Mitch replied, hugging me back.
"You're very welcome, Mitch." I replied, rubbing the kangaroo's shoulders, "And who knows? Maybe we'll meet again someday?"
Breaking from the embrace, I stepped out of Mitch's car and the two of us waved goodbye to each other, "So long, Kurt. I know it was a short date but we sure had fun!"
"I'll see you around, you precious cinnamon roll!" I replied back. And with that, Mitch started his car up and it vanished into thin air. With a smile on my face, I headed back to my house. What a magical day. The end.
