While the rest of his family chose to become dragons at the Transformation Holiday Resort, (as they had agreed on) Dirk accidentally picked Arachnid, and he didn't even particularly like spiders.
But it does look like he's adjusting rather quickly, and will get to make a web above the horde of gold in the cave, that the rest of the family will sleep on.
