As a criminal and family lawyer, I can assure you that there is NO excuse for initiating a physical attack on one's partner. Especially an unprovoked one. No matter who bad the behavior, unless it's violence, you cannot respond with violence. In RL, had Sean called the Police, they almost certainly would have arrested her and taken her into custody. She would have been banned from the house. The child welfare people would have been called in. She would lose her right to possess a firearm.
Always good to point out once in a while that this is a comic. It is not real life. In a comic, one has four panels to state a problem, resolve it, and let everyone live happily ever after. RL is not that way.
