Wyvern weightgain
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
I thought it would be nice to give this a proper finish. So here you are, the Golden Crested Wyvern's gluttonous adventure!
Fig. 1.
That's him, the sleek, slender and elegant beast of the skies in his graceful glory, before it all started. That's how they are supposed to look like, and how most of them soaring the distances indeed look like. They are built to be light, to fly harnessing the winds with minimal effort, he is not starved, having sufficient reserves, just proportioned all right for his specie. But he also isn't quite cooperative, and is too intelligent to be trapped, too strong to be safely handled. But we want a nice, tame dragon. So let's get started. How? By feeding him, of course. Food helps gaining trust, right?
Fig. 2.
Well, turns out not so much. He eventually learns that he can trust, so that's a success, cooperation however is a no. Even touch is a big no! And now he is pretty chubby, which doesn't look bad on him. It is not normal, but occasionally such dragons do occur even in the wild, those holding a territory, stronger beasts learning to use an increased mass to fend off competitors by luring them into fighting on ground. It doesn't impede them much apart from soaring, if we had the rare luck of a dragon building sufficient trust to make a bond at such a stage, he could make a great and powerful companion. As long as his belly doesn't touch the ground when sitting with an empty stomach, he is okay, the relationship shouldn't be stressed by trying to ration him. But what if he didn't cooperate still, and we didn't want to give up on him?
Fig. 3.
He got nicely accustomed to feeding, the pleasantry of having his belly sated, however he still doesn't quite tolerate approach, regardless of how we are trying. But he is also starting to have difficulties in flight, now refraining from flying too far off. It is comfortable to be fed, after all. And what a copious flabby paunch! Still, it doesn't make him any less graceful as most of his fat apparently ends up there, retaining his sleek and elegant form otherwise. It is very unfortunate he is refusing to cooperate as he is still, and always too dangerous for any direct manner. But we can tame him, don't we? Well, maybe we need to give up on flight to get there, but whatever it takes to have the companionship of a dragon!
Fig. 4.
Finally we could touch him, but he is still pissy. And now ludicrously fat, which is about the only reason why he at last gave in. He demands some gentle care, to show we don't mean him harm, yet it is difficult to do so without keeping him sated. It is quite unfortunate. At this point, due to how much his skin had expanded, it would be hazardous to trim him down ever as the remaining hanging skin would pose a significant risk with the vigorous antics of a lean individual. He needs to retain at least some substance and mass to keep him considerate with his actions. But he still wouldn't quite cooperate, which doesn't help, so let's just keep on.
Fig. 5.
Now he is pretty gentle, and even prefers our presence, actually becoming a quite interesting and intelligent companion. The same time, he still retained a pretty decent look with his slender features, if he lays down on that copious soft bed of his belly he grew, resting his wings by his sides, it isn't much noticeable apart from that it looks like he had settled on a small mound. He likes it, acting a lot as if it was indeed a bed he is laying upon, while otherwise he doesn't seem to be much restrained in his walk, he adapts, and is aware of that giant sagging paunch he is carrying. He still prefers to be full, seemingly oblivious of the consequences, and at this point, it might be that it is better for him in the long term. All this weight would wear his joints out in the long run, so we came up with a plan for him, for which we keep carefully rationing him so his growth is well constrained until we are ready. His bony limbs are long, so he still should have a year of oblivious indulgence until then!
Fig. 6.
Finally on this day we verified that his belly does in fact meets the ground when he is standing in his normal posture. But what was the plan? Well, it was in fact to bring him to a point where he is very considerate with his movements, to spare his joints from unnecessary activity. It naturally eventually started to adversely affect him, making him depressed, despite our continued efforts to give him enrichment, always having somebody to interact with him. However in the last month we could finally make it, completing his new living area with a small pond and an extensive canal system for his use. He showed great excitement for it, and hugely enjoys swimming and goofing around in his pond! He can reach every place he needs in the canals, with little need for any movement on the ground, and he appreciates all of it much, again indulging in his pleasures the way he so loves.
He is now pretty much settled, learning to use the water for his activities, which helps him maintaining proper physical condition, without overly straining him. He likes it. It is also astonishing how well he understands his own body, his expansive belly, which he in fact cares for well, meticulously avoiding unnecessarily dragging it, and creatively using its loose and soft expanse for his pleasures and comfort. He also did learn much, and is a quite entertaining and amicable companion, beautiful in his ludicrous way, we only hope we can have him for a long, pleasant life.

Eh, just some silly stuff to go along with it. Hope you like it, if this is your thing :) . I personally actually probably like Fig. 2 the most, maybe Fig. 3. Pleasantly chubby, actually quite fat, but not ridiculously, and he looks kind of cute that way. Also like him: https://www.sofurry.com/view/1561830
I also have a long story with a similar theme: Taming the Beast: https://www.sofurry.com/view/1561254
