it is the strokes and their characteristics tat give it away... it starts big and ends small, it is a characteristic that only pens do.

yes very true, i just wish that they would blend more, without having to smudge the fresh ink of course

hatching works well for that, you use strokes all in the same direction and try to place them all close together to give it a smother look. That is what I have found that works.

i lean too hard for that, so it just ends up black :3 thats why i love digital now, i cant make it too heavy by limiting the pen size :3

Digital is to impersonal and complicated for me. I tried to a few times, even got a drawing tablet, but I just can't stand how my lines never come out like they were on the original drawing. I also hated how the colors were as well, then there is the fact that it took [color=red][b]FOREVER[/b][/color] just to do a single picture. It takes me at most to go from blank page to colored finished picture 4 hours tops. A digital... 8 hours if not longer.

i find digital faster and simpler lol :3 its quite a learning curve and i do keep finding new ways to use it, but thats what makes it soo exciting to me :3

my lines are always very flexible, but to keep the lines you just change the saturation levels and use the actural sketch lines instead of redoing.

i take about 6 hours per pic, faster for simple and crazy long for a complex one im working on that i kinda want to show you, but im not happy with it yet lol

When I draw digitally, I use the original scan and use it as a base, I create a new layer and try to trace over the lines. I just hate how my lines go off and are not exactly on what I had then on. AFTER spending 2+ hours on that, I then create a new layer for one color, and fill in the drawing. I then do this step for all the other colors. I then create a new layer for the background. After all that, some 8 hours plus, I am just ready to give up so I flatten the image, save it as a new file, and be done with it. I prefer to Animate, I just use pictures as the frames, and done. Digital art for me is just... not as personal in my opinion, sure, it looks better but... to me it is impersonal and you can't really feel the drawing coming to life.

i do the whole thing on the computer now, so its a bit more life-ey :3

i do a rough sketch in a pale colour, the a darker clean sketch, a new layer for lines, a layer for colour, a layer for shading and a set of layers for background if needed :3

im attempting to learn how to animate but having to redraw a pic in every so slightly differnt poses isnt my idea of fun :3

I guess you just have to keep at it... If I can ever get this blasted Kindle Fire to work, I can draw on it...

:3 they look awesome but i just dont work all that well with portable tech (i drop things :3)
