It all began when a young river otter named Lilly Dewitt came to the Spontoon Islands in the South Pacific to learn how to be a salvage diver. She found an excellent teacher in a sea otter who knew almost everything to know about the islands. One day, when Lilly was out on one of her clam dives, she happened upon a lifeboat floating in the sea; it's only occupant a young vixen named Kiki. Poor Kiki was suffering from amnesia and couldn't remember a thing that had happened to her. Lilly discovered that despite the fact that Kiki couldn't remember who she was, she was an excellent swimmer and asked her if she wanted be her student. So now Lilly is the teacher; showing a young one the ways of the ocean.
