Tales of Heroes Characters: Ayida-Weddo, Xuanwu, and Lilith
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Artwork by https://www.furaffinity.net/user/ferrety-lixciaa/ thank you for your hard work.
In Tales of Heroes actual gods and goddesses, mythical creatures, and fairy tale characters are used.
The three mythical characters depicted in this painted picture include Ayida-Weddo, Xuanwu, and Lilith. The question is, who are they and what bearing do they have in the story?
Ayida-Weddo (Top left) is the known as the Rainbow Serpent, an African Goddess of the Fon people of what is now Benin and Haiti. She is married to Damballah where she worshiped as the goddess of fire, water, wind, fertility, and rainbows.
In Tales of Heroes, Ayida-Weddo like many deities would lose her husband to the powerful creature known as Cataclysm. She mourned and eventually moved on in the hundreds of years to come. In the Coalition of Deities, her magical powers were plenty but she was the master of none. Nonetheless, her myriad of magical powers made her a force to be reckoned with. Armed with the mystic silver forged African Kpinga blade, she swore to continue to serve the Coalition of Deities and enforcing their laws and keeping balance on Earth. Many mysteries surround her and her past. Some say she had a parent that was a snake creature and the other a dragon. All she knows is that she continues to serve in disguise in human form as conflicts and history continue on Earth. Her plethora of colors reflected from her iridescent scales show the colors of the rainbow itself as she keeps a composed, adamant, and neutral aspect towards life and it's problems.
Xuanwu (Top center) is the known as the black tortoise in China. He is known as one of the four divine animals in China. His long mythical history has made him a legend in the Chinese Constellation.
In Tales of Heroes, Xuanwu serves a perfect example of the "Faux Rule" in the story. The rule is considered important as it states that not everything written by man will always be the same in real life. Xuanwu was never a male but actually a female. Always aggravated when people call her a male, Xuanwu has had a long history in China being a protector and serving her role as one of the four divine animals allongside Fenghuang, Bái H?, and the Azure Dragon. She is tall standing up to 9 feet in height. Her dark shell makes her hard to take any damage more so than any other of the three present. Xuanwu is known to be gentle and smart but prone to be clumsy. She always walks with a long tail behind her that acts as a snake arm for her giving people the concept that she is both tortoise and snake. Nonetheless, she is known to always be there in the thick of battle to take the first hits when the shooting starts.
Lilith (Top right) has a long history of violence, evil, and wicked acts. She was supposed to be the first wife to Adam in the Garden of Eden but she refused and left the Garden according to her free will. Following Jewish mythology Lilith would meet the archangel Samael who would corrupt her to the form she became.
In Tales of Heroes, Lilith is considered the "First Vampire" but not many know if that is true or not. According to her, the biblical stories about her past were all true and in her human form her flowing red hair represents her greatest beauty. She has had a long history of wicked acts but now serves as a major link for vampires in the Coalition of Deities in their concept of allowing all to serve in their ranks regardless of their past actions. Lilith struggles with her self, forgiving her own actions, helping other vampires adjust to a life of peace or dispatching them if they are too far gone to be saved, while keeping herself sane in the process. Her vampiric abilities and recorded history of vampires help serve any team she is a part of in their attempts to keep peace and balance on Earth against other rogue deities or mythical creatures.
