Guild Leaders and Guild Purposes
The Currents of Neather - Currently led by a Samurott named Ottoro: A calm demeanour and knows his name is a direct touch to his species. The Guild operates like a worldwide navy, assisting in the transport of goods, passengers, and patrolling against pirates on the waters of the sea. Most members choose to join this guild as a career and life path.
Lieutenant is a Greninja.
Ottoro: “This world was built for the ocean to be a highway of life, its currents swirl in the same circle that time itself was once known to do, and so we build ourselves upon that time, bringing to others what they need to grow further as well as the freedom of the open seas. Perfection in my eyes."
The Emerald Wind - Currently led by a Rosarade named Gloria: Sharp and calculating but friendly and wistful in manner. The Guild focuses on agriculture and grows many berries and other foods once from the human world. They operate close with the Currents of Neather and Kintect City to distribute this around Lumaria as evenly and openly as possible. Most members choose to join this guild as a career and life path.
Lieutenant is a Tropius.
Gloria: “The land provides all we need for sustenance, but doesn't really provide the means to carry it all over hehe. Thankfully we have friends for that~"
Keepers of the Elements - Currently led by a Metagross named Loctris: Gruff and with a deep presence. This guild's activities are somewhat hidden, as they focus on confronting imbalances caused in nature by the actions of others; such as healing the landscape that a fire type damaged with a fire attack. Their members are usually hand picked and scouted by current members and leadership. They work closely with the Eeveelutions Guild, who report to them any instances in which the land was damaged by fights or other encounters. Because Eeveelutions often have mastery over a particular element, some, particularly Leafeons, continue careers in this guild after their time in social service. Located close to Nakaritma, it coordinates with its leaders for assistance in healing wounds to the planet when it is necessary.
No Lieutenant.
Loctris: “I get that battling is still a big thing and probably always will be, but can we keep it to Au'rat more? I'm tired of needing to repair Salvis' foundations and listening to the bandits there try and pick a fight all the time…"
The Watching Shadows - Currently led by a Marshadow named Riley: Chill and somewhat jolly. This guild assists the Eeveelutions Guild and others as monitors to cities, Rifts, and other locations throughout the world. Composed mainly of ghost types, they use their ability to remain hidden to catch things that should not be seen, and alert those they believe should be aware. Their members are ageless, but other ghosts have joined throughout the years.
Lieutenant is Mistress Chandelure
Riley: “Man, I know all the secrets. I've got eyes everywhere, and those eyes have mouths that tell me what they watch hehe. Mistress may still be my Mistress, but let's face it, it's this guild that's now the top ghost hangout!"
The Lost - Nothing is known about this guild, it has no representation and no one actually is aware of its existence.
Protectors of the Stones - A recent addition to Lumaria in the last few hundred years. Currently led by a Dugtrio named Gratus: A calm but scheduled individual. This guild regularly checks on the Anchors in timely intervals to insure that no vandalism or change to them cause a Mystery Dungeon to potentially close. Thanks to the guild's continued diligence, no one has ever become Lost in a Mystery Dungeon, and the system of travel afforded by the Anchors is now used on a regular basis for travel across large distances. A highway system is slowly being developed. Their members are usually scouted by current members.
Lieutenant is a Golbat.
Gratus: “My great-great grandpa(s)(cause you know…Dugtrio, made of three heads…) was a Rifter and they first discovered how to replicate an Anchor from Rifts and created the first Mystery Dungeon, since then we've grown into a new guild with a new purpose! We'll recreate methods of travel so that the Currents of Neather can have an easier time!"
The Eeveelutions - Also known as the EEA or Eeveelutions Elemental Alliance, it is led by a council composed of a leader for every evolution of Eevee. Since the joining, their purpose shifted from protection of the entire planet to protection and service of the populace. Their numbers out pace the number of any other species of pokemon on the planet by a large margin, but they do not overwhelm those other numbers combined, making up about 17% of the total population and generally hovering around that percent in current times. They provide a multitude of services to all others within cities as well as patrol streets and roads with full squads of every evolution. It is part of their culture for Eevees born to serve a total of five years performing social services after choosing an evolution, but they are then allowed to pursue personal goals as well. They are given private education within the halls of the Eeveelutions Primary Headquarters, located on the southern reaches past Au'rat. They are often one of the last stops ships make when doing a rotation before returning and moving up again. Because of this, Eevee are often targets of jealousy, at least in a battle sense, by others as their upbringing provides them a solid foundation and formal training against tough opponents. At the same time, most pokemon will find ease when at least one Eeveelution is within eyesight, because it means someone that can take charge is nearby should anything happen. They serve as peacekeepers and wardens in places of discipline. There are downsides to this. Being isolated for much of their early life, and then placed into a manner of service to their community for years after, they lack developed social skills around other pokemon and so members of the Eeveelutions may lack social mannerism. They become silent and often prefer to keep to themselves and their own kind. In recent times this has become more noticed, and so Eevee wanting to see more of the outside world are now offered offshore education years before they pick an Evolution--allowing an Eevee to make a choice based on where they may like to live after their service instead of basing it on what service they want to perform. Lacking humans, Sylveon's have faded out in a long distant past.
Many leaders: One for each evolution of Eevee, but the Espeon is typically the one who speaks for them all when representation is needed.
Espeon: Lotali - “Do you have any idea how tiring this job gets? No, of course you don't. But that's fine. I forgive…It's actually not that hard to mentally govern…I'm just kidding."
Umbreon: Grishart
Glaceon: Iris
Leafon: Chora
Flareon: Richard
Vaporeon: Sara
Jolteon: Kinecto
Bright Star - The guild of choice for Rifters, named after the being that had saved their world. Current leadership is provided by a pair; a Lucario named Lucian and a Ninetails named Morgana. The guild itself is an enigma - publicly, its activities are said to be that they regularly monitor and clear out high level Rifts in hard to reach areas of Lumaria as well as destroy the high level Wraiths that emerge from them. Teams that belong to the guild are both well known and unseen; its members continuously on the move from one assignment to the next. A chance meeting with someone claiming to be from the Bright Star Guild has become seen as something to take with a grain of salt, yet all would be Rifters and even current ones aspire to match up to that bar. It appears enigmatic because despite claiming a high number of members and activity, its headquarters are almost always empty aside from their one Lieutenant, a cook, and the two leaders.
Lieutenant is a shiny Eevee named Finlay. (Ran away from the Eeveelutions as his being shiny overwhelmed him as a rarity as each branch of the guild began fighting over him, trying to convince and get him to choose them as his evolution. He hated this treatment and it eventually caused him to decide to run away towards the north. Constantly trying to avoid being caught by other Eeveelution squads and sent back home, he often went without food and shelter for weeks. He eventually wandered, lost, into the Shadowed Marsh and then found himself at the doorstep of the Bright Star Guild. The Eeveelutions are aware he is there, but the protection of the guild leaders afforded him his home with them as they got the branches to see how it was they were harming Finlay. This was one of the events that recently led to the Eeveelutions reflecting on their social skills. To this day he still somewhat despises his difference in appearance. He primarily assists the Guild as a clerk, but always tries to find opportunity to do more. Filing papers all the time still gets really boring...He's sometimes caught napping at the desk.)
Finlay: “W-wait…you shouldn't be here…how did you get through the Shadowed Marsh? N-no wait you c-can't just join! Those missions o-on the board are for members only! Wait for the next T-testing Day!"
The Legions of Satoru - This guild is an outlier to most all others in that its leader is a known anomaly to other leadership. Satoru is unlike other pokemon beings in that he is a Riolu in appearance and body but not of a direct biological make. Satoru claims to be a distant pal of the Bright Star and appears to be immortal like him, yet it is somewhat clear what he may actually be to onlookers. He is cheerful and enigmatic, but his behavior and reputation leaves others confused.
The Legions of Satoru is not a direct guild…but rather refers to the multiple legions of Bisharp robots that Satoru builds, all under his own direct command. Despite building and maintaining an army numbering near a million, as well as factories and facilities that he has built within the mountains of the Crags, Satoru remains peaceful to Lumaria and its residents.
In actuality, Satoru's body is that of an android, biological in build and function, while his mind, morality, and awareness are given to him through his soul-the soul of his original body when he had once been alive as an actual Riolu, which acts like his heart, stored within the chest of the 'shell' or body he inhabits. Satoru appears immortal because, should the shell be destroyed, his soul simply moves to and enters a new one.
About a thousand years ago, Satoru proposed something in writing to leaders of the world at that time and now, once every ten years; with the understanding of the Eeveelutions and Keepers and other guilds and cities of course- Satoru hosts what he calls “The Great War Games" Where he uses his legions of Bisharp soldiers to try and 'conquer' as much of Lumaria as possible. Other pokemon band together to stop him, and together they enjoy a “War game" style king of the hill scenario within the Mountains of the Crags where Satoru's fortress is built. Most pokemon from Au'rat love to participate in this event.
Satoru does not usually attend guild meetings as his presence is often not requested as it's not typically required, but yet somehow his Lieutenant, a similar android pokemon who is instead a Buizel named Miraz, arrives at each of them even though he's never directly invited, suggesting that he somehow has means of gathering his own information.
Despite this, Satoru maintains he has nothing but allegiance with Lumaria and its residents.
Satoru: “War? No. War itself is actually terrible, that's a horrible waste of life and even effort. You also lose out on so much productivity on both ends of it! It's systematically pointless. Now, War -Games- on the other hand…"
Cities and City Leadership
City of the Star Seers: A somewhat quaint city built more like a rustic village; filled with only huts and small dwellings but spanning a long and wide area. Pokemon that live here tend to be psychics or others with psychic potential. Situated on a far north perch of the world, the weather tends to be chilly but the atmosphere clear and calm. The location is beloved for its view of the sky at night, where the shine of stars appears its most clear and vibrant. The pokemon of the city often claim messages are shown in the stars. The leader of this city is Enlzo: who instead leads it from afar within his Tower, the residents are not aware of his species.
Enzlo: “A plan is a plan when viewed in hindsight, a reflex is a reflex when viewed in forethought."
The Hidden City of Ra'Duli: Unknown, no representation.
The Port City of Mushroom Isle: A medium city built on the coast of an island along the ring most ships follow when traversing the Sea of Neather, it serves as a resting, refueling, and tourist port, featuring many strange attractions and shows hosted by multiple groups of pokemon, using their abilities to put forth live shows of entertaining display and sometimes repeating popular past performances. To the north of the city is a forest of large, bright capped mushrooms that grow to the size of large trees, the only place in the world where the fungi grows to such height. The city relies on the continued support of others for most wares and trade, but supports itself with farms kept on other nearby parts of the island as well as fishing. The leader of this city is a female Ursarang with a calm outward appearance but a fierce mind named Greta.
Greta: “A sharp mind is needed to see through to true talent; especially with all these performers around here. Won't lie though, some of its good stuff."
Nakaritma, the City of the Elements: This wide and technologically advanced city is possible through the use of a burning and balanced core of elemental energies woven together. Modern conveniences exist here such as refrigeration and even TV are possible through the use of the elemental energies. The one core itself powers the city with more than enough energy to spare. It also serves as a secondary refueling point for anything that can't already be obtained on Mushroom Isle. It is led by a council of seven that call themselves “Keepers", as they keep responsibility for the core's health everyday. Each one is typically a master of one of the fundamental elements the core is created from; Fire, Water, Wind, Electricity, Earth, Light, and Darkness.
Current leader is a Zereora by the name Manaki. One of valor and honor, he is the Master of the Element of Electricity for the city council and is the representative sent for world meetings.
Manaki: “Being quicker on the draw than an opponent can make the difference. In life, it lets you get ahead of any issues coming your way too."
The Water City of Alon: A pure tourist city, this naturally created marvel is built upon a coastline of rocky outcroppings. Its primary feature is a fountain in the middle that provides cascading water features through the entire city. This makes it a primary location for those wanting to spend time relaxing and vacationing without care, and many other pokemon make livings in providing luxury care to guests. There are a number of stores and attractions in the buildings that are made from the rocky structures of the natural land, and on calm nights, it's said the moon casts a glow across the ocean in front of the city.
Current leader is an Empoleon by the name Viktor: His manner speaks to a character who treats others fairly but knows he's the one with resources to assist to begin with and is not afraid to deny.
Viktor: “Come enjoy the city! I certainly do! I never get tired of being here and seeing the faces of those that get to see it, that's why I'm willing to share in the bounty so much! Let's have a feast!"
Eterna City: This city does not exist in the eyes of public knowledge; a guarded secret between both the Eeveelution Council, Enzlo, and The Keepers.
Au'rat, City of Temperence: Au'rat is a gladiator city. Filled with coliseums and stadiums, it hosts regular and daily tournaments, games of various scales, and features several places of entertainment where visitors stay between viewing or participating in such events. Champions among pokemon are crowned here-their power levels able to rise to standards that allow most to overcome obstacles and threats with ease and grace on their own, but only through the mutual effort of each other's strength. The phrase “The strong guide the weak and the strong make the strong stronger." Is a catchphrase among the fighters. Here arguments are settled by battling, rather than in the eye of law. While an Eevelution headquarters is still stationed here, it is the one city in Lumaria where their overall control is the laxest. Au'rat's proximity to Salvis, along with this more lax control, allows some pokemon to engage in shady deals in the back alleys of streets and the darkness of arenas. Gambling on the matches is welcome and done in the open. Most gladiators themselves will not participate in the gambling, as most agree to a code of ethics and honor in becoming one that all follow.
Current Leaders are a duo, a Sawk and Throh who commentate on matches that take place in the city's main coliseum, usually between Champions of the respective other arenas in the city.
Sawk and Throh: “We're both out of practice–turns out we're better as spectators and commentators after all anyway–I'm cool with that if you are–absolutely."
Kintect City: It's said that if you need something and can't find it where you are, you can likely find it in Kintect. It is a city of merchants, and is the primary location Rifters take items and treasures they have found inside Rifts to be appraised and sell. As such, it is also the primary city at which Rifters prepare to enter one. Through Kintect, the Eeveelutions and Keepers Guild both assist in making sure that every city has what it needs to maintain itself and provide opportunity for further growth. It is a city with the heaviest presence of the Eeveelutions due to this, where large amounts of paperwork and inventory counting is handled by a network of psychics and computers from Nakaritma. Asides this constant mercantile system being monitored, there is a spattering of entertainment, restaurants, and other stores and places of rest for its residents between those hours. Eeveelutions that serve here are known to say that merchants are crazy for -liking- to count numbers all day.
Kintect City is actually named after its current “Saltun" or “Patron", the name changes whenever the title is passed onto a new pokemon. Locals call this position “The Zu'Zazar", as a term for the merchant who is agreed currently holds the most bargaining power in the economy. As such, Kintect is the name of their current Leader, a Kecleon (Of course…of course it is…haha…)
Money often buys secrets, and in the past it has never been a surprise when a Zu'Zazar is aware of other guilds interests and problems, sometimes able to offer good and unique solutions that often also benefit themselves.
Kintect: “Of course a Kecleon is the Zu'Zazar! For a vast majority of this world's history we have been! Rarely do we let ourselves lose out on running an economy in a world such as -this- now hehe. Nearly a thing of pride for us now at this point."
Salvis, Shield City of Darkness: Built upon the lower portion of the Spined Mountains, Salvis marks a gateway into the wilderness of the mountains and valleys beyond it. Despite the presence of a well stationed Eeveelution's Headquarters, law is seen more as a temporary respite here, for just outside the city limits and among the dotted hills and mountains of The Spines are camps of bandits ranging from single numbers to triple. They dot the rocky mountains of the Spines that then go northwest.
A city built by Bandits for Bandits, it had to accept the identity of being seen as a City as it was created to avoid being torn down by other communities that began to feel threatened, becoming forced to accept an Eeveelution Headquarter. It is now seen more like a castle of banditry; where bandits momentarily lay all aggression at the door for temporary shelter and city pleasures. The understanding between the Eeveelutions and the bandits of the city is a strained one, as fights often break out anyway. While the EA policies this, they get no shortage of taunts in doing so; however, there's a mutual and somewhat shared understanding that allows peace to continue and its this:
After the Eeveelutions kick out the troublemakers, the bandits outside have free reign to beat the heck out of them for everyone's amusement for disrupting the fragile peace even bandits try to enjoy.
The Current leader of Salvis is a Houndoom who goes by the name Cerberus. It is known by many bandits that this name is simply a moniker and not his actual name. Boisterous and loud, he's known for throwing large parties in the city's largest building, a castle-like structure that was said to be the first fort bandits had built in the city's first beginnings. It's rumored there may be hidden passages in its halls.
Cerberus-once speaking to a squad of Eeveelutions: “I don't give a damn fuck about the idiot burning down a stall! Throw him over the damn wall as far as I care we all know the “Law" here! YA LEAVE IT AT THE GATE!!!"
Lumen, Shield City of Light: Located in the Northern portion of the Chip and thematically built on the near opposite end of the mountains from Salvis entirely on purpose, Lumen attempts to represent a city built on order and discipline instead of chaos and pleasure. First built by those wanting to directly oppose the chaotic nature of banditry when Salvis was first recognized as a city, it is intricately carved from the stone of the mountain. The city gate dives down into the mountain itself, which has been dug into a large cave and made hollow, supported by skeleton beams along the walls and ceilings. Holes dug up through the mountain allow beams of light to shine into the city from all angles, and when night falls, a crystal is used to capture moon and starlight through those same holes which bathes the city below in a warm blue shine. As tensions between Lumen and Salvis died, the existence of this city soon came to be more as a place of contemplation, a city where one went to spend time in a quiet isolation.
With a now almost always scarce population, Lumen continues to exist more as a ritualistic city. One is usually encouraged to at least spend a year here or when they need time to reinvent themselves or think on life paths, even those from Salvis. It also serves as a location of extreme justice, where trails of extreme criminals are held and punishment served. Deep within the mountain does exist a prison where some of Lumaria's most dangerous individuals end up spending the rest of their lives; those who have killed others unable to escape the law.
There is a constant ongoing theological war between residents of Salvis and Lumen. One that is instead helped carried out by the assistance of Satoru and his legions during his Great War Games, where Lumen and Salvis both get opportunity to settle aggressive tendencies in the shared event.
The current leader of Lumen is an Aegislash by the name Fortuna. She is a calm individual whose current ghostly experience is relished in simply letting time pass by, yet unable to abide in seeing evils without proper correction.
Fortuna-after once meeting Cerberus when the Houndoom became leader of Salvis: “At least he knows how to throw a fun party…"
The Oakwood: Nothing much is known of the Oakwood, for it is one city in which there is no presence of more civilized control. A city of nature, residents here live in peace because peace is an understood desire for all there, and so no Eeveelution presence was deemed needed. Rather, it was deemed it couldn't be labeled one given its size and location so far away from other cities and the ring of commerce that goes through them with the Sea of Neather.
Located south in the middle of the continent in the shadow of The Shard, the Oakwood is a single large Oak tree that has somehow been grown to the size of a single, large building that towers over all other trees by several meters. Locals tell tall tales that it was the Bright Star that first created the tree.
However, no one denies the place's calmness, especially given that it is located just somewhat farther west of Salvis and its many bandit camps, and so it also feels to serve as the opposite “gate" to the wilderness between Salvis and The Oakwood. Where Salvis' mountainous region and the camps near it represent more potential danger, being closer to the Oakwood's side of the stretch of land is safer and more open in its forests and plains.
The Oakwood is a city of pokemon who prefer a more wild lifestyle as small family units, as they live in dug out holes in the ground or simple huts, enjoying the shade of the huge tree and the safety of its massive roots. It has no leader as pokemon there forage and fend for themselves in mutual harmony.
Aurgit, the City of Gems: This City is located on the western edge of Mt Frostnip, up in its high altitudes and not too far away from Alon. It is a city of natural wonder as well. At the top of the mountain it is built on and within, it is constructed like a large forging complex. Weapons, from swords to lances to maces and armor are constructed here. The mountain Aurgit is built into is rich with many minerals, as well as its neighbors. For nearly four thousand years of Lumaria's history it has continued to be a central mining operation for nearly all materials other cities use for larger construction as well as armaments of many pokemon who can use them against Wraiths.
While of course Aurgit forges primarily for those with good intentions, somehow bandits still have gotten their hands on many of these weapons throughout the years of history; yet the city remains a steadfast corner of the planet's status. Asides from creations made from metals, the city sells jewellery and gems that are also mined up from the depths the mine reaches, now totalling nearly forty miles deep and twenty miles wide under the bases of the mountains themselves.
The majority of the populace of Aurgit are, surprisingly, Riolu and Lucario. It is said that in the time before the joining, the Lucario clan was already fond of digging up the pretty rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and other gems hidden within the land, and they continued doing so up until they became recognized as Aurgit.
The mines themselves are almost more maze worthy than Rifts, and so are mostly off limits to visitors. Asides Rifters visiting to commission weapons and armor they might want, tourists that visit the city are instead encouraged to shop, buying the shiny gems the city digs up, or enjoy a local hotspring that local miners use to rest and soothe muscle aches in their work.
Currently, this city is led by a business entity, the owner of which is a Machamp by the name Xavier. He is a robust character who finds enjoyment in continued progress of any kind, and an experienced blacksmith.
His Lieutenant is a Lucario born within Aurgit by the name Abanal. He feels a responsibility in making sure the business aspect of Aurgit does not overcome or become overcome by its traditional roots.
Xavier: “This business was made from the back of a legacy of time, and Abanal and I intend to make sure that those foundations don't crumple."
Abanal: “He says after having bought 100,000 poke worth of gems for his own keeping…"
