The Robert Scruggs House - Cowpens National Battlefield 10-24-2014
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
This cabin post-dates The Revolutionary War. It was built in 1828 and added onto several times (?) as the family of Robert, Catherine and their eleven children (!) grew. they raised corn, wheat, potatoes, livestock and vegetables.
ADDENDUM:
A friend asked if this might be an ancestor of Earl Scruggs, the famous bluegrass banjo player. I honestly do not know, but checking where Earl Scruggs was born, it is only about 25 miles away from Cowpens. So there might be a connection.
