Early Ford V8 Museum 18 - 1953 Ford Dash
Not my best photo due to reflections, but this does give a good idea of what a 1950s and even 1960s car dash looked like. You might notice two things that are not around today on the far right - Lighter and Choke. As someone who grew up with smokers for parents, I can say that I am VERY glad that we no longer have a lighter and ashtray in our cars. I have used a manual with a clutch, but I have never driven a car with a choke.

The old manual choke takes some getting used to and once your car is up to temp you must remember to push it back in as it will use more fuel and crap up your plugs.
