Virtual Vikki

Fan image for Virtual Vikki. She was one of the pioneers of the internet, back when the net was just starting to take off in popularity, At the time, the net was slow, almost entirely text, and what images were there didn't always display right and took ages to load, if they displayed at all! NCSA Mosaic was still king, and the PC was starting on its eventual rise to the top of the computing landscape. Yet, despite all this, here comes the first full-colour CGI'ed vixen, made with the Macintosh even! Talk about going against the grain! As the furry community began springing up, Virtual Vikki would continue on, and eventually fade back into relative obscurity, but in Virtual Vikki, we could see that she was both a girl of the moment, and far ahead of her time. Through programs like Second Life and movies like Zootopia, we'd get so many examples of furs in the virtual realm, and then there's tens of thousands of artists all producing crazy-awesome works, every day giving us something new. These days, Virtual Vikki has to compete with her much flashier cousins, but it's good to go back and remember the ones that came before us, and gave a glimpse in the world we'd one day inhabit.
