Triton
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Unwilling to put his magical talents to use for his slavetrading family, and wary of the politics of the Guild, he left Morrowind and tenured at the Mage’s College in Skyrim’s Winterhold. Curious about all facets of magic, he never specialized, jumping from one path of research to another when he grew bored or found a new interest.
A favorite among the students due to his relaxed nature and eagerness to help with nearly any undertaking, he was content to explore the mysteries of Aetherius at the quiet school. Aspirations of advancement were the furthest thing from his mind. Fate however, had other plans.
The untimely death of the Arch Mage left a power vacuum at the College, one that many of its professors were all too eager to fill. Weeks of arguing culminated in an assassination attempt. A truce was finally called, and a plan agreed upon. It was decided the only way to end the feud was if someone were appointed who had shown no interest in the position and had taken no part in the fighting. With that Triton found himself the hesitant head of the college, and things returned to a level of normalcy.
Over the next decade life was uneventful for the Dunmer. He grudgingly took care of his administrative duties, continued spending time among the students, and met his wife.
This would prove to be the great turning point of his life for, she soon fell sick to an illness no lore in the college could cure. Desperately searching though obscure tomes in the Arcanium, he devised a plan. A dangerous plan that relied on powerful and forbidden magic to save her.
When the time came, he set things in motion, but something went wrong. Unsuccessful in saving his wife, he accidently trapped his own spirit within his familiar, erasing his memory in the process.
Years later, the strange talking fox with inexplicable control over telekinetic forces wandered across Cyrodiil looking for answers to who he was and why he existed. The only clue he had was a collar and a name tag that read Shadow. He joined up with a band of rag-tag mercenaries working for the infamous Bleakwood Company, who were heading north to Skyrim, where he heard there was a college of independent mages.
They would undertake daring heists and dangerous missions. It was during this time he met the mute Lillmuthiit Vox, with whom he developed an immediate connection.
Their adventures finally brought him to the destination he sought, the College of Winterhold, where he was instantly recognized from a painting of the former Arch Mage. Seeming to find more questions than answers, he and his now close friend Vox launched an investigation into what happened to the Arch Mage, and how Shadow was connected to him. He also devoted a good deal of this time learning sign language so he could easily talk to his companion.
After weeks of exhausting research, they uncovered Shadow’s past and the revelation that he was somehow also the lost Arch Mage, Triton Telvani. Also discovering a hidden rune of unknown transmutation magic, Shadow took a gamble, activating the spell, and returned to the body of the Dunmer, with the unusual feature of a pair of fox ears.
He declined the invitation to remain at the college, and rejoined his old group alongside Vox. Their missions would once again prove difficult and deadly. Throughout, his feelings for the vulpine girl would be tested and strengthened, but his self-doubt kept him from forwarding a relationship with her.
Taking a temporary leave from the group, the pair now reside at the home he acquired in Cheydinhal, where they devote their time to researching the champions. The current mystery is how the murderous master of assassins Alleria Aldori is seemingly back from the dead. Hoping to find more answers at his old college, Triton is visited by a specter of the ancient Falmer, who makes a dire threat against Vox's life.

Two things I struggle with: male characters and humanoid faces, so I decided to draw a male character with a humanoid face… I really am a masochist…
This is my pathfinder character Triton. He is a Dunmer with some foxy features left from sharing a body with his fox familiar for a few decades. Featured in my most recent story. If you read it you’ll know he is now partnered with :iconBleakwood-Bishop:’s character Vox.
