Beach Bar Pickup!
The three men, tired from playing some volleyball, decided to take a break at one of their favorite bars. It was cozy, little walk-up bar that lacked stools to sit on, forcing you to stand while you drink.
"Pepsi, please," Vreak told the woman working the bar as if she didn't know what he wanted by now. She handed him the drink and was given a few coins in return.
SSSFFFT! The black grow opened the can with the tab on the top just as two girls walked up to them. Eddie, pushing up his sunglasses, smiled as he recognized one of them. "Hey, Lucy," he took his lion friend and gave her a hug, "I see we have a new hat."
Lucy smiled back to him, "Mm hmm. My buddy Bones and I just got back from the shop and it just called my name." She took her hat off and put it in front of her face, " 'Lucy! Lucy! I'm on clearance! Buy me!' And, well, you can't just IGNORE talking hats now, can ya?"
Taku, the hyena, chuckled softly to himself. Lucy was always such an animated character.
"Well, it looks great on you," Eddie replied to her. Looking at her friend, he held out his paw, "The name is Eddie. It's nice to meet you... Bones, was it?"
She nodded with a gentle smile, taking his paw and giving it a firm shake.
"You aren't from around here, are ya? I've never seen you before," Vreak took a sip from his cola.
"I'm visiting my family for a while. I haven't been here since I was a little girl," she said with a rather thick accent.
"Ooh. That's some heavy French you got there," Taku took a sip from his own glass of Miller Lite, "You from Quebec?"
"Ooh, ouais! But my mother's side is from this area, and with the holidays coming up, I decided to 'drop in'," she answered. Her tail swayed gently behind her.
"We started chatting on some forums a while ago, and, since she was coming down here anyways, I figured we could hang out with each other before she goes back," Lucy continued while Bones adjusted her hair. "Maybe we can find her a boyfriend too," she giggled gently.
"Well, for someone like you, Bones, that shouldn't take long at all," Eddie's smile was warm and friendly.
The group talked for a bit more before Lucy got to looking at her watch. "Ooh, geez! We gotta be getting ready for dinner tonight!" she looked at her Canadian friend, "C'mon! We gotta get to the market before they close!" While Lucy was hugging Eddie good bye, Bones scribbled something onto a napkin she had in her bag.
"Ici," a bit of french slipped out while she handed the hyena the scribbled on napkin right before running off with her lioness pal. Lucy waved to the group, while Taku looked at the napkin. His face began to light up.
Vreak, who immediately noticed Taku's change in demeanor, looked at the napkin and chuckled, "Well, well. She musta thought you were a bit of an American sweetheart. A shame you're off the playing field."
"Yeah," he giggled weakly as his face continued to grow more and more red. "And I'm more than off the field. I don't even PLAY for that team."
