Looks a bit rough, but still cute in a way. New species you say? Interesting design, maybe you can rotate the curvature of the crescent shaped paw pads so the two points face directly up or directly down. The picture looks great regardless.

I can't really see, you should really think about inking or darkening the image. Other then that, you tried at a tough looking creation but it somehow is still cute.
