Tobias Arthur Fox, known as Toby to his friends, is a short, plump, fox who lives in a fissure that runs under a large magnolia tree. His build is similar to that of a Tanoki, and he might be mistaken for one if not for his more foxy features. Despite his usual dopey expression, he is quite intelligent and extremely loyal. He is a very kind and gentle soul, who tries his best to avoid confrontations, although they somehow find a way to involve him anyway.

Although he may not look it, he is actually a healer. One of the main ingredients in his alchemical potions is the Pinecorn, an unusual nut, about the size of an apple, which looks like a pinecone fused with an acorn. Most of his somewhat limited magical knowledge he learned from studying under the Forest Elder. He can sometimes be seen carrying a burlap sack over his back which he uses to gather ingredients from his dense forest home.
