Cross-legged Ara
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Pencil sketch of an unnamed Ara person from around six months ago. The Ara are a science-fantasy species of spider folk, based on the fruit-eating jumping spider Bagheera Kiplingi. I'm working on visualizing how these dudes carry themselves, move their many limbs, sit down comfortably - stuff like that.
I do know that their long pedipalps are held "elbows up" because they're mostly for gesturing, speaking, and emoting. The movement of these furred palps is similar to how my Ferrin people speak with their mammalian ears: they say "hello" in the same approximate way, a coincidence let the Ara and the Ferrin make nonverbal first contact while they were falling through space-time. They grabbed onto each other in the chaos and - with the help of the Korvi people's strong wings - they all landed safely in a new home.
