The Lyra System is a gravitationally bound planetary system approximately 30.24 light-years from the Sol System. Discovered by twentieth-century astronomer Jurgen Nordstrom and named after his wife, the Lyra System is currently the farthest known solar system to be colonized by humanity, and is a growing galactic center for finance, entertainment, and commerce within the Milky Way. It is under the jurisdiction of the Lyra System Authority, an official extension of Pax Terra.

The Lyra System consists of a late main sequence star designated as Lyra I (often referred to as Lyra Prime), plus two terrestrial exoplanets (Hades and Persephone), one gas giant (Demeter), and a collection of trojan groups of asteroids equidistant from their respective satellites.
Currently, the only inhabited planet of the Lyra System is Persephone, a tidally locked territorial exoplanet with a habitable terminator zone capable of sustaining life. Its largest, most populated colonial settlement is a booming metropolitan city based ten latitudinal degrees north of Persephone's Equator. This colony was originally designated as the LYRA III Colony, but most residents and off-worlders call it Twilight City. Within the habitable land along the terminator zone are smaller mining settlements such as Southpoint, and Firmax Base. With an estimated population of 11,621,926 residents taken from the 2990 galactic census, Twilight City is the second-most populated colonial city past the Oort Cloud.
Article suggestion: History of Twilight City
Twilight City is comprised of five main districts: the historic Old Colony Dome which houses Elysium Towers, the surrounding residential and commercial Inner Ring, and the surrounding working-class and industrial Outer Ring. To the east of Twilight City, stretching deep into the tundra-like climate facing away from Lyra Prime, is its Polaris District. To the west of Twilight City, stretching deep into the desert wastelands that face Lyra Prime, is the Solaris District, as well as an immense solar array.

Formerly a Pax Terra penal colony settled by its first prisoners in 2696, the LYRA III Colony became host to many of the Milky Way's convicted felons, most of whom would be eventually emancipated following the repeal of Pax Terra's controversial Galactic Criminal Relocation Program in 2772. Many of these former inmates would stay on Persephone to call it their new home, alongside groups of workers and settlers hired by the Arcticadia Mining Company after the discovery of rare mineral elements along the planet's terminator zone. Other mega-corporations such as Galaxia Commerce and Kaleidascape Cyber-Genetics would establish operations on Persephone, the latter utilizing their ani-coding technology to allow workers to operate in extreme weather environments.

Not long after, the Persephone Charter was codified into law, and the Lyra System Authority is established to govern the planetary system, with Twilight City serving as its capital city.
