When danger looms and evil threatens, one hero will always leap into action: Rosebun! The the pink heart-themed bunny will use their elastic powers to save the day! Or try to at least!
This day, the evil Dr. Crankshaft was piloting a giant steam powered robot through the city's downtown area, causing chaos in his wake as cars were smashed and people fled.
"Ah ha ha ha ha!" he laughed, "Soon the world will tremble before my might, and we'll all return to the glory of the steam age!"
"Not so fast Evildoer!" Standing dramatically on a rooftop edge was Rosebun! Holding their arms confidently by their side, their heart symbol prominent on their chest they stared down the evil scientist with conviction. "Your reign of destruction is over and you will endanger the people of this town no more."
"You believe you can stop me? Well lets see how you handle... THIS!" The robot's fist shot out with a massive hiss of steam directly towards Rosebun! However, they were prepared and dived out of the way just as the tethered fist smashed though the edge of the building's roof.
However, they weren't ready for the robot's OTHER fist, which caught them off guard and smashed them into the side of a building.
With hissing pneumatics, the metal fist withdrew to revealing falling debris and the dazed, flattened shape of Rosebun against the cracked concrete wall.
"Silly do-gooder. You'd be more use as a gasket!" Dr. Crankshaft gloated as he observed Rosebun's flattened form from inside the glass dome on the robot's head.
Rosebun soon recovered, only more determined. "It'll take more than that to stop me." By that stage Dr. Crankshaft was already navigating the robot onwards. Rosebun leapt forward and put all their energy into increasing the size of their fist and slamming it into the side of the robot. But their rubber fist just bounced off the steam armour of the robot.
"Was that a tickle?" Dr. Crankshaft mocked, quickly pulling a lever to respond. With hissing and burst of steam, the robot swung another punch at Rosebun, and another, but Rosebun was ready this time. Ducking, dodging, stretching legs to jump off lightposts and stretching arms to grab and pull themselves this way and that. "Stay still you little pest," Dr. Crankshaft growled has he furiously threw himself at the controls, trying to get the large metal limbs to keep up with the pink blur.
For their part, Rosebun took credit in that they were being more evasive, but needed another option now that direct attacks weren't effective. In a moment they had one! Diving for the ground, Rosebun stretched out and wrapped themselves repeatedly around the robot's legs.
"What? What are you doing?" Dr. Crankshaft tried to lean forward and look down through the glass, but it was hard to get a view of the robots legs without tilting the entire upper part of the robot.
"Just ensuring the inevitable. Your downfall!"
The robot was losing balance. Dr. Crankshaft tried to compensate, but most of the robot's balance systems assumed that the legs wouldn't be bound together by an elastic bun. Windmilling the arms, the robot rocked back, and forward, and back, before finally slamming face first into the ground, sending shockwaves across the road and crushing several parked cars.
"Just goes to show," said Rosebun gradually untangling themselves from the legs. "the bigger they are..." a robot hand suddenly shot out and grabbed them by their legs. "...hey wait!"
"Do you have *any* idea..." the Doctor's voice called out in unbridled fury, "...how much *WORK* goes into making a massive steam powered sized bipedal ROBOT????" The robot pulled itself up, one leg after another. Part of its steel armour had buckled, bursting some of its rivets and revealing some of the spinning gears inside, but otherwise it seemed to be working fine. Meanwhile the Doctor was nursing a light bump on his head "I put all this work into it and you just want to destroy it like it's nothing?"
Grabbing one end of Rosebun with one robitic hand, and the other end with the other, the robot started stretching Rosebun out, spinning and wrapping them around with surprising dexterity for purely mechanical appendages. Rosebun lost track, finding themselves stretched longer and longer as they were looped around the two hands, becoming more and more like an elastic band or brand of putty. "Now go, and never bother me again!" The doctor commanded the the right hand to move forward, stretching Rosebun even more like they were a loop of pink elastic, and commanded the left hand to release.
Instantly, Rosebun was catapulted through the city scape at warp speed, they slammed into a skyscraper and bounced off like a ball, then against a watertower, a billboard, another building, a truck! They were bouncing all across the city like a pinball machine. Walls, museums, arches, stadiums, Rosbun could barely keep up and was dazed from the rapid speed and constant bouncing that kept changing their direction. Then they went through a park and slammed into a garish public art statue. Through complete chance this threw them on a trajectory that just happened to intersect with the steam powered robot that was continuing its rampage through the city once more.
Forcing aside their disorientation, Rosebun did everything they could to think of a plan while they were still bearing down on the robot. If they could just... and that's as far as they thought before they slipped right through the gap in the robot's armour and slammed into the spinning gears below.
In an instant Rose bun was pulled, stretched and wound around pretty much every mechanism in the big machine. Arms around crankshafts, legs in gears and belts, ears in worm gears, torsos stuck under pistons, and tail wrapped around a flywheel. They were caught in everyting, and the moment a limb seemed to get enough slack from getting out of one part of the machine, it just got caught in the other. The machine just seemed to suck the bun in! But as it did so, it gradually started slowing down as it struggled against the bunny's elasticity.
The robot started to shudder.
"No! No! No! No! NO! NO! It can't end like this! Move you stupid thing, MOVE!" the Doctor panicked, pulling on levers and toggling steam valves. The robot tried to take another step, but every movement just pulled the bunny more into its own workings and gave it more friction to work against. With one foot outstretched, it froze, every mechanism now gummed up by the elastic bun. With a final hiss and burst of steam, the entire robot tilted forward and once again smashed into the ground.
* * *
"Well, Rosebun you did it!" Chief O'Higgins remarked cheerfully to the prone form of the giant metal robot as he observed his men at work.
"I... I did?" Rosebun was still a little out of it from finding every part of their body was squished, wrapped, pressed or wound around the guts of a now inert machine. Just as well a break in the armour armour gave them a view of the street and the Police Chief, because given how deep their were stuck in the mechanics, they couldn't so much as turn their head.
"Yep, with that robot down. We were able to arrest that Dr. Crankshaft no problem." He nodded down the street where the crazy mad scientist was being hauled away by other police officers, not that Rosebun could see that far.
"Oh... that's good!" Rosebun would have nodded if they were able, but even their ears were streched and wrapped up in enough stuff to keep their head still..
"Indeed. He seemed quite a threat, but you dealt with him in no time flat. I guess thats the thing with these steam powered scientists... they turn out to be just a lot of hot air! Ho ho ho!"
"Ha ha ha ha," Rosebun laughed along. That kinda was funny. At least they thought so.
Suddenly a lurch upward. Rosebun couldn't see but could feel a large crane lifting the hulk of the robot the were in and despositing it on what seemed like a flatbed truck.
Blinking, Rosebun tried to pull themselves together... figuratively. Literally was impossible right now. "Hey, um Chief O'Higgins. I know you want to get rid of the robot and all, but I think I'm stuck in it. Could you... help me out?"
"Oh, that's well above my paygrade I'm afraid. But don't worry, they'll be sending the whole thing to Apogee Labs. I'm sure those eggheads will be able to get you out of there no problem!"
"Oh good... ummm, actually I think I've got an itch on..." With a loud rumble, the truck engine started and the whole metal hulk started moving down the road.
"Safe travels Rosebun! And Godspeed! This city owes you a debt from your tireless efforts to protect it."
"Oh thanks but my nose is *really* itchy and can you... hello...?"
And so the truck pulled away, ready to set out on its several hours long trip to Apogee labs, taking with it the remains of the mad scientist's robot, and within it: a true hero!

Rosbun VS Dr. Crankshafts' Mean Machine
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
A story I did for Inabunstar ( https://www.furaffinity.net/user/inabunstar ).
One of their characters/sonas is a stretchy elastic superhero named Rosebun. I had fun looking at what they posted about the hero, so I decided to write my own little fan story where they battle an evil mad scientist in classic superhero shenanigans.
The title image was made by Inabunstar, made around the same time I wrote the story. They even added the text to match, which was awesome of them! Original art submission here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/61802710/
