Here's Ne'ri, one of the young Fansq gals who was part of the ill-fated student field research trip to a nearby star system that Elí and Meyleh were part of. She appears in chapter 4 of the book when she shows up with a printout of Meyleh's latest message and pictures. This is like a school yearbook photo.
I made the original sketch using a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil with HB lead and then inked the outlines using a 0.1 mm Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen with black India ink. I then scanned the sketch at 800 dpi and in 48-bit color, and then did the rest in Adobe Photoshop v.6.0.
