Life in Space, pic 4: Simple Drudgery

One of the least pleasant aspects of life in space: molds of unheralded annoyance will grow /everywhere/ if left unchecked. Here, Dee, in one of the most futuristic settings possible, surrounded by tech... gets to play old-fashioned washerwoman. She does have /some/ advantage from living in the future, by letting some of her prosthetics run under independent local control. She's adopted her rogue cybernetic hand (from http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6885206/ and http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7525273/ ) as a "pet", and it's doing its own part to help out.

I've seen some pictures of this stuff on deviantART but never actually clicked on it. I was wondering what on earth was up with the headless body, and... now I know. (sort of) xP

I'm still not sure I understand the exact reason for the prosthetic body, though... -confuzzle face-

By the way, I like your art. It's pretty awesome. :3

After managing to get a job in space, Dee was involved in an accident (which has yet to be written up in story-form), during which she lost all four major limbs. (I've mentioned one hint so far - it involved a novel solution to the Cold Equations.) Since then, she's experimented with prosthetics of various sorts, some of which are shown as comics in my gallery, as "Dee's Arm" (starting at http://www.sofurry.com/view/307103 ) and "Cost: An Arm and an Arm" (starting at http://www.sofurry.com/view/324630 ). Eventually, one of the variants she tried was a 'taur-shaped prosthesis... which turned out to be the one she enjoyed wearing the most. And that's why she keeps hauling it with her, even in spacecraft with limited space and careful mass allowances. :)
