Not too long after finding a tribe of lions and getting to know them pretty well, Shani Uzuri returned home, only to find that she was pregnant. Shani fell into despair, believing that her life was over; but after talking to close friends of hers, she decided to have her cub. At last the cub was born, and Shani named the little one Kijana, meaning Junior in Swahili. Raising Kijana on her own was by no means an easy task, but remembering everything she had done as a relics reclaimer, Shani did her best.
Things got easier as Kijana got older; Shani could now hire a babysitter while she went on expeditions and continue her work. Kijana soon developed a real interest in the things her mother did, and wanted to follow in her paw prints some day. She was also particularly fond of camping and looked forward to it every summer. Shani, by this time, wanted to encourage Kijana to be the best she could be, so one summer when Kijana was nine, she planned a hiking trip up Tasmania's eastern coast, and that was their summer vacation. As the mother and daughter marched along the beach, singing a song, Shani looked at Kijana in a way she never had before. Before she was born, Shani thought a cub would mean the end of her adventures forever. But the opposite was true; Kijana, her daughter, was her greatest adventure; and she couldn't wait to see what adventure might come next.
