Saya x Nicholas: On The Couch
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
So here we go with the next part in the tale of these two. And here you'll learn a lot more about the shy, silly, adorable little bat with her past.

Birthday For Bat
How Nicholas would find out was during Saya's birthday party that fell on April 9th. The bat at first wasn't sure if inviting the fosky was a good idea with her conflicting feelings inside her body for him and her past clashing. In the end the female did invite the male. She figured if anything happened her friends who were coming over like Izzy would defend her both physically and vocally.
When the time came the knock on the door happened and Saya answered to find Nicholas at the head of the guests with a grin. In his arms was something that looked suspiciously like a cake. Izzy was right behind him. "There's the birthday bat," the fosky said. Saya couldn't help but look up at him with a smile but blushed at the same time. The house party was today but then the next day Izzy and a few would take the bat out just like when it had come to Nicholas only it had been with his friends.
The guests were soon in and mingling. The fosky had revealed he had brought a cake and made by himself. It looked good and Saya couldn't wait to have it. The male told her that it was his gift to the female. Nicholas figured since the bat already had that necklace from him that would be good until they became a couple. Besides, he was certain she would get some nice things from the others. The female bat after a bit of talking with him and the others got her gifts opened. They were all good and yet she felt that emotionally they wouldn't compare to what Nicholas had gotten her for Christmas or the cake.
Then it would be time for the food and the desert. But the latter had been put in the refrigerator and had to warm up by room temperature. And the first item needed a little bit to finish up. That left Saya and Nicholas talking on the sofa. "So what will you be doing during the outing for the second part of your b-day celebration?" the male asked.
"We're thinking of heading into town," the female answered with a bit of blush. "Izzy says it's this club like place. It's got both a family and adult area. True I turned 21 today but I'm not going to drink. It should still be fun."
"I hope you do." Nicholas leaned in a bit and it caused Saya to blush harder but didn't back off. Not even when he placed his right paw on her leg. "I guess this is enough for me which is why I'm not invited. Too bad, because I could have made it more fun for you."
"I-I… u-um…" the female stammered and blushed red. "Excuse me a minute!" That part was said fast and she was off to her room to collect herself. It left the fosky confused.
"Was it what I said?" he asked. "Or how I acted?"
"It's not you," went a female voice. Turning Nicholas saw Izzy. He guessed the canine had seen everything. "You were alright, even with that action. It was more on her."
"What do you mean?"
"Here, follow me." Izzy took the male to the kitchen to talk. "Tell me, how much do you know about Saya?"
"Well I know what she likes and loves," Nicholas answered. "I know what she dislikes and hates. I feel I know her quite well including her personality."
"Do you?" the canine responded and something in her voice made the male stop short. "Do you know why she acts that way?"
"I just thought it was her nature."
"Perhaps, but there's more to it than that. How much has she talked about her past?"
Nicholas went silent for a bit as he realized the answer to that question. "Well… No, she hasn't at all. Then again I haven't with mine."
"Well it's with that that has made Saya what she is somewhat," Izzy said. "But first let me ask you this; have you heard the name Alkrest?"
"I have. That name carries a lot of weight in the world like the string of hotels I work for."
Izzy then went on to explain what had happened to Saya. The female bat had lived peacefully with her mother and siblings. Her father, Gregor who was a physician, was something of an elitist and despised the fact that Saya took after her mother rather than his pure bloodline. It was thanks to him that Saya's peaceful life would become colder. Her elder brother had carried on the family traits and name, so it wasn't a matter of his legacy being tainted, it was simply an unbiased hatred for her imperfection.
No matter what Saya did, Gregor would never show even a sliver of congratulatory pride for his daughters accomplishments. This lead the female to often second guessing herself, thinking there was something wrong with her despite her mother's protesting otherwise. Throughout her childhood years, this fear of disappointment and not being good enough would cling to Saya like a parasite, constantly lurking behind every praise worthy achievement. Her grades in school were perfect, her skills in athletics were amazing, and her cheerful personality was infectious, but still this bothered her father. If he had her way, she'd be refined, quite, and outright ruthless. His perfect daughter would be worthy of the Alkrest name.
Then at the age of fifteen, and in a rare moment of courage, Saya approached her father with a deal; If he paid for he tuition, she would attend a boarding school of her choosing in the city. She'd learn the skills that she wanted and he wouldn't have to be around his "imperfect" daughter. At first, Gregor was incensed by her proposal; she was basically asking for a hand-out, in his opinion. His answer was a resounding "No." every time the subject was brought up. It wasn't until a situation with his brother's son came up that Gregor finally caved in and agreed to Saya's proposal.
Saya's cousin Mychell, a ripe terror and a small-time thief, had recently bitten off more than he could chew. During one of his routine house raidings, Mychell had gotten into a violent altercation with the home owner, hospitalizing the hapless mouse by bludgeoning him with a ceramic pitcher. Gregor, being the family man that he is and not wanting the Alkrest name to suffer insult, concocted a plan to the problems go away... both of them. When he agreed to allow Saya to attend her boarding school in the city, he did so on one condition: That she go help a friend of his whom house had been broken into, to see if she could help repair the damage and assist if he needed any help getting around. It was a simple enough task, so Saya agreed heartily; her mind still in a state of exuberance over being able to attend the school she wished. That exuberance, however, was short lived. For when she arrived on scene, the officers that were investigating the break in cornered her. Frightened out of her mind, Saya couldn't think as to why they thought she had something to do with the break in. She was told that a young bat, about her age, with white fur and dark hair had broken into the house late last night and seriously injured the occupant. Mychell, that was the only person that came to Saya's mind when they told her what had happened.
She tried to tell the officers what really had happened, and who was to blame, but Mychell was one step ahead of her. With a solid alibi, and her father's word to corroborate it, Mychell appeared innocent, which left Saya holding the bag. Given that she was a minor, the officers offered her a choice: Juvenile detention, or to attend a school built to correct the behavior of young felons. Knowing that jail time would ruin her chances of making it into the boarding school she wanted to attend, Saya had only one option; to attend the school for broken, misguided teens. As she returned to her family's countryside home to collect her belongings, Saya couldn't help but overhear her father and a voice that sounded vaguely like her cousin talking in the study. Shaking her head slowly and batting back the salty brine of tears, the distraught fruit bat slowly ascended the stairs to her room, collected her clothing and personal belongings, and made her way back to the car that awaited her; her mother and siblings watching on in uneasy silence. Just as she was about to drive away, Saya caught a glimpse of Mychell strutting out of the front door... wearing the uniform of Mapleshade Academy, the very school she was dying to attend. Their lives had been switched. She had been betrayed by the man she only ever had love for. As the black car sped down the road, the tears dribbled down and stained Saya's lap. Resigning herself to this life, the tear-stained bat vowed she'd make the best of a bad situation, but from now on she'd approach everyone with caution and a wary mind.
Back in the present Izzy finished her tale. NIcholas was shaking with anger, his teeth barred in a snarl, and a deep savage growl was in his chest. The male's paws were balled into fists. "That bastard…" the fosky snarled. "How dare he do that to Saya."
"Nicholas, just calm down," the canine said. "I feel the same way."
"Do you?!" he asked. "You're just a friend but Saya… She's more than that to me. I mean…"
"I know. I can tell."
"Gregor doesn't deserve to be called a father after that. No father should treat any of his children that way. I've only read about crap like that but this… This is one of the worst kind of crime. But… if what you say is true then people still think it was her that caused the crime. And the evidence… it's long gone if any."
"Maybe not," Izzy stated. "But what can you do?"
"I don't know…" Nicholas whispered. "But I swear somehow, someway, and someday I'll make Gregor pay for hurting Saya; My Saya." The growl in his chest died down and his face turned to one of worry. "Still, what you said now explains everything. I can see why she wouldn't have told me that. But then if you know then does that mean…?"
"Yeah, I'm not perfect either," the female canine answered. "I was in the same place as her. I was able to make her open up and Saya told me everything."
"I won't ask what happened to you. My concern is for Saya. Still… she must still be scared from that. That act has cut into her deeply. But I don't want to hurt her at all. I just want to make her happy and give her the life she could have had. If I can hook up with Saya I can make that happen."
"Yes, I believe that if anyone can it's you Nicholas and you can get Saya out of that fortress she's built around herself. I've seen it in her eyes, she wants that as well when she looks at you when you look elsewhere. But you do realize-"
"I know I'll need to do it carefully. I've got a plan and I feel slowly I'm getting there."
With that the two returned to the living room. A minute latter Saya came back out and didn't know what had transpired. It then came onto the food and cake. it was all good but the bat loved the desert Nicholas had made. It was a combination strawberry and chocolate. Saya couldn't remember the last time a birthday of hers had been this fun. Even the hanging out time with her friends didn't come close.
