First, I appreciate your feedback. Second, the point of this piece is to tell a story. It's called 'Event Horizon' because if you didn't know, the event horizon is basically the point of no return. In black holes it is where not even light can escape, hence why the end, well, ends the way it does. Being a black hole sucks all reality into it, leaving nothing but the eerie space noise (I know sound doesn't travel in space, but there have been recorded sounds). The spooky music in that first section is there as a sense of eeriness and that something isn't right, the black hole. The quirky bass, I admit, was a bit of a stretch. I wanted to do a bass filling and that is what was produced. But I also purposely put the bass in that middle section where an already existing melody, that didn't match, was being played. I did this in another piece I did (although I don't remember which one). I call it "mis-harmonizing". It's where 2 melodies (usually guitars of sorts) play simultaneously and purposely don't mix very well. It gives, in my opinion, a sense of edge.
