The Von Krieg family figured prominently in my The Fantasy Trip: In The Labyrinth campaign. They were minor nobility with a strong military tradition. The oldest brother, Karl, was killed in a duel, and his younger brother and sister, Rudolf and Eva, became adventurers. When I started my Runequest campaign, I brought the Von Kriegs over to the world of Glorantha. While they were both accomplished fighters, Rudolf was more tradition-minded, joining the cult of Humakt, god of soldiers, while Eva was a fun-loving free spirit and joined the cult of Orlanth, god of adventurers. On one adventure, Eva encountered a group of small furry humanoids called pykar being attacked by trolls, and rescued a pykar boy named Devrin. Since Devrin's parents had been killed by the trolls, she adopted the boy and raised him as her own, which Rudolf disapproved of. Later, Eva was killed while pursuing a criminal, and Rudolf, being a Humakti, bound by the Rune of Truth, took custody of Devrin and raised him as his sister would have wanted.
