KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
In the early afternoon in the busy kingdom of Zolrya, a lizardman opens the door to his art gallery to the public. His name is Jonathon Rainoak, his scales are beige like the sand in the desert with brown eyes standing a little under feet. Jonathon has been in the Zolrya for a month now and finds the citizens exceptionally friendly and looks forward to meeting them each day. The bell on his door rings singingly as a customer has come into his shop. He turns and finds a reptilian gentleman looking over his paintings.
His scales are in a pseudo nodular appearance, like the pattern of a giraffe. The plateaus of his scales are a dark Brownish-Red while the valleys are of a dark brown hue; matching his feet. Brown thick finned spikes cover the top of his head; Starting from the bridge of his snout where the eyeline is to the back of his head. There all angled, pointed in the direction of going behind his head, partially overlapping one another. Covering the whole top of his head like hair but, lined up in horizonal rows from each other.
The lizard approaches the reptilian customer "Greetings, and welcome to Rains Galaria. Thank you for your kind patronage. I am Jonathon Rainoak." He greets him kindly with a humble bow. The customer greets with a respectful bow as well, "Well met. I must confess I have not seen this establishment around. Are you new to the city?" he asks out of curiosity. "This is my first month within the kingdom! I was lucky enough to be allowed to use this space as a studio and gallery by the building's owner." John spoke with honesty. "I thought as much. I try to make it a point to visit each new venture to wish them prosperity and growth." the reptilian spoke elegantly. "I'm flattered! Is there something I can pull down to display at your home, or would you wish for a new painting?" John says standing behind a small desk. "For the moment, I am merely here to observe, but I could perhaps be tempted." John nods and begins to show his customer some of the paintings he created, from still life to landscapes of different kingdoms, some portraits and even abstracts. John watched as the reptile looks upon his work, something in his mind is making him think he has seen this reptilian before. He tries to respectfully look upon him "I don't mean to stare... But you seem familiar. May I ask your name?" The reptilian turns to look upon "My word! Apologies... What a terrible lapse in etiquette. I am Lord Rohrouk Argiid, sovereign of this city and vassal to the crown of Zolrya." John's face turns to shock "Oh! F-forgive me! I have heard tale of your lordship, but had not had the pleasure of seeing you in the scale!" giving him another respectful bow with the feeling of a knot in his stomach. He was addressing royalty and didn't realize it. "I'm afraid that is something that comes with the territory of governance. I am quite busy most days." John fully understood, having such a customer is a high honor for himself. He always assumed that people of such renown or even royalty would be snobbish and look down on the commoners. But this gentleman, Lord Rohrouk is nothing like he suspected and even to ask "Would you allow me to paint you, sir? I would be honored to capture your likeness, even for free!" John said with a nervous boldness, slight fear enters in as he awaits the answer. "As flattered as I am, I must request that you accept some payment for your efforts. Might I ask why this sudden interest came about?"

John swallows hard as he finds the right words to say "The color of your scales, the impeccable taste in wardrobe, and regal bearing, it's a form made for the canvas!" Rohrouk is surprised by his answer as he holds a hand to his chin "Well... I did not mean to spend a great deal of time here... but how can I refuse when you put it like that?" He says with smile on his maw. John grew excited at the idea of being able to paint a true nobleman. "Wonderful! Please, follow me." He gestures to a stairwell to which Rohrouk begins to follow.

The two reptilians walk up the stairs; John is feeling a knot in his stomach from nerves but also excitement. Upon reaching the top of the stairs and opening the door, they gaze before his inner sanctum. The room was of medium size but was filled with easels, pots of paint and brushes, finished and unfinished landscapes from various lands and of course a stool sitting in the center with the light shining from the windows giving it a warm glow. "It has been some time since I last painted a subject that wasn't a landscape. Please do not be disappointed if it turns out a little off...". Rohrouk raised his claw, “Nonsense, experience feeds growth. How can one hone their craft without practice?" John smiled at his comment.

"I think I'm equal to the challenge. I just need to mix a few colors to get your scales' hue right." With permission John had Rohrouk move into the light from an open window. Using his own the lizard tested the different paint hues, then comparing them to Rohrouks scales until they matched perfectly. John takes a few steps back looking Rohrouk over and an idea comes to his mind. "I think a bold pose pointing to the viewer would complement your air. Perhaps something emboldening and galvanizing! Perhaps something you could use for recruitment?" He says with a question, hoping that he will like the idea. Rohrouk thought it over a chuckle escaped his maw "Ha, ha, I didn't think this a war council meeting, but if that is what you desire, then by all means." John was relieved that he agreed to the idea and had his client stand in the center of the room, John taking his position behind an easel began to use charcoal to sketch out the rough design for the body. 30 minutes go by as John finished the sketch, he let Rohrouk have a break from the still position and offered him a drink, some light snacks and polite casual conversation.

After the break was done the real magic began as John grabbed his brush and began to paint. John even more meticulous when it came to his painting making all the layers, colors and making the light shine off his scales. John would glance up from time to and take a minute or two looking at Rohrouk before picking up the brush. He would hum slightly and softly every time he would make a minor correction with color or defining detail that would capture his likeness.

A few hours went by and finally John puts his brush down and wipes his brow. "And with that, I am finished! Please, take a look." he steps aside awaiting his clients move. Rohrouk gave his arm a stretch as the rest of his body and walks over to the canvas. Rohrouks eyes open wide as he gazes at the finish piece. "My, you've certainly done a good job. I can see the effort you put into it." He says with a toothy smile. John smiled and his gleamed with happiness "I'm grateful for the opportunity. I... would you be willing to be my muse once more? This might be too presumptuous of me, but may I paint you in the nude? Your body would be an excellent form to practice anatomy with." He said with slight blush on his cheeks, his heart began to beat fast from nerves wondering how a man of royal blood would react to such a question. Rohrouk was to say the least surprised "Goodness, you're a bold one. Hmm... perhaps, though I would prefer to do that within the comforts of my own estate, and perhaps alongside others who have proposed the same thing. It would be efficient to allow many the chance all at once, would it not?" Rohrouk states.
John was surprised to hear his response but was intrigued at the same time. "Thank you! Please let me know when I could come and paint! And thank you for your patronage!" he gives a polite bow. Rohrouk gives him a bow in return, "Please, think nothing of it. It is a lord's duty to guide his citizens to prosperity. I shall ensure that you are well-paid for your efforts now and when next we meet." John simply nods with a big smile and with one more farewell the two shake hands and the lord of the land departs the lizard’s gallery. John is bewildered that he had just painted a man of royal blood but even more that he earned his respect and can't wait to cross paths with him again.
