Pecan the Magpie Reference

Title can't be empty.

My newest character Pecan, who is a magpie.

This was done by drawing over these two pictures:

Both pictures are public domain, so I am fairly certain that editing them as I have done is allowed. But if I am wrong then I would appreciate if somebody let me know.

Pecan: Well, yes. I lay the eggs.

Duo doesn't lay eggs?

Pecan: Nope. Have you ever heard him mention laying eggs? If he did lay eggs I am sure he would offer some to you, since they would be sterile.

Duo: Not if he can't even tell my gender I wouldn't.

But I thought all birds laid eggs! That's the entire point of being a bird, right?

Pecan: Don't snakes lay eggs too? And so do other reptiles? There are a lot more points to being a bird than just the eggs. Like feathers!

Well of course snakes lay eggs! What kind of weird animal doesn't?

Mammals don't, with a couple of exceptions. But also the males of most species don't lay eggs. Shouldn't you know that, since you are a male yourself? Unless Kalokin is playing tricks again.... >[sub]v[/sub]>

K: Oh come on Kalo, why'd you have to ruin all my fun? D;

Pecan: Do they act like this [i]all[/i] the time?

Duo: Seems like it. Usually they are worse. Like that one time.

Pecan: Ah, yes. I do remember that story.

Duo: They are fun though, really!

*Extends a hand slowly, hoping to pet a birdy's floofy plumage.* So I like to have fun and I'm possessed by a notorious trickster... would you recognize me if I didn't fool around?

Duo: Probably not.

Pecan: *Pushes her head into the hand.* You are interesting at least. Perhaps when I lay some eggs you can have a few of them.

(Why did I have to choose two names that when abbreviated to one letter both make emotes?)

*Gently strokes her head.* Oh goodie, been a while since I had fresh birds' eggs for breakfast.

Pecan: *Chirps happily, then giggles.* I don't think they will even be a mouthful for one as big as you are, but I hope you like them.

Hah, I get it. Pecan pie... I wonder if she likes pecan... or pie.

Actually, it came from the scientific name for Magpies like her: Pica. The 'pecan pie' didn't occur to me until you mentioned it. I like it.

For her character, she was named after her favorite food. That was before she became intelligent, and she decided to keep the name afterward. She still really likes pecans too.
