The Pycagupata Species [MINIMAL!]
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
In the Pontetrean Rift, there are many known and subtle threats that permeate the realm. These threats range from parasites, to poison plants and sometimes absolutely massive beings that observe and sometimes seek to interact with those who are smaller. One such aforementioned beings would be the Pycagupata, jellyfish-like canids that float around in the Rift as freely as if they were swimming around in water. These beings, similar to jellyfish, produce a light stinging sensation around their lappet-like appendages, however this is due to the fact that they generate electricity. As they float around in a rather carefree manner, Pycagupata can charge up an absurd amount of electricity before releasing it to flash fry any target it deems fit to upgrade to crispy. Whilst the denizens of the Rift try to not interact with these gigantic beings too often, the Pycagupata, whose name roughly means "zapping squishy paw", lives up to their name as they often choose to land near settlements... unfortunately they seem to misjudge the distance and end up landing on settlements. Unlike other predator species of the Rift, these beings lazily float after their preferred targets, using their anemone-like tail to siphon their prey up and into their awaiting stomach. In a playful, but rather horrifying manner, some Pycagupata will "show off" for other smaller beings by tossing a captured target into the air with their tail before catching the target on its tongue and promptly swallowing it. The horrifying part is the accuracy these beings have with locating the target's other colony mates and targeting them for more "games" like this one, or showing why they have their name of "zapping squishy paw", often leaving sizeable pawprints around a colony. It isn't all bad, as Pycagupata can be "bribed" with slabs of meat that they can zap and eat, often being called upon to deal with larger or more numerous threats, in which they are on their "best behavior".
