Nicholas was obsessed. Every night, he'd pour over the blueprints to Ogel's fortress with a little help from Sapphire, Mendoza, and Rose, looking for a way to get inside. He soon came to the conclusion that there was no way in unless the team picked up some dedicated ARC specialties and snipers. Experts with mechanical and pointing skills far exceeding what the group had at the moment. He knew the perfect people for the task.
It took a bit, but he finally managed to get in contact with Amethyst, Bill, Ruby, and Stanley. Right now they were in Holland and Onyx, Granite, and their kids were there to. Apparently they had all gone there for a vacation together. They had even met up with someone who could keep up with someone like Aquamarine and Bill intellectually. A gear head genius from area named Penelope. After getting in contact with this new person, she politely declined the offer and the others weren't ready to join up just yet. Penelope stated she only worked for the best. Apparently, her idea of "the best", was her boss, The Black Baron. A big time dog fighting champion up there in Holland. He's was so good that he had even set up an international competition called Aces to attract worthy opponents.
A couple days latter, the Canines and Vixens in Holland along with Penelope sent the rest a counter offer. If the group could beat The Black Baron at his own game, then she'd know we weren't just a pack of jokers. And therefore worth her time. Also there was the fact Amethyst and Bill wanted to win this competition as well. That was the real reason why those two were up in Holland. They had asked Stanley and Ruby to help with mechanics and support while the other family was there to watch them.
So the ones in the states got busy. While some helped with the packing, Nicholas arranged to meet up with the others in Holland along with securing two planes provided by Diamond. Meanwhile Bill and Amethyst already had the pilot's license part taken care of for both. The Canines and Vixens would prove to this Penelope that they would win this challenge. Even if a couple parts may have been made up along the way.

It was a bit of an emotional reunion with the members of the group who were in Holland. They took well to meeting the Guru who could tell they were also good. It was interesting to see Alexander and Victoria who had grown so much. This could especially be applied to Rachel. She could now walk and talk. But it was her baby brother named Sam who was really cute. This little one had his mother's fur but was a good chip off the old block like his daddy. Amethyst and Bill were also doing well and ready to win in this competition. After a few days of catching up, the whole group went to the hotel where the tournament would be held. In a surprising twist, Carmelita was here as well.
Nicholas and Topaz were out first. They even had some pilot outfits ready since they'd be helping out Amethyst and Bill in the dogfights as the second gunners. The two spies made it to the lobby. They were contacted by Mendoza. "If we're going to succeed in this year's ACES competition, we'll need to learn who we're flying against."
"What?" Topaz stated. "They like keep the flight roster a secret?"
"Correct. In years past, competitors would go out at night and sabotage each other's planes in preparation for the next day's dogfight."
"It's so they don't know who to mess with," Nicholas stated.
"Precisely," Mendoza answered. "Look, I know Bill and Amethyst are good pilots and both you and Topaz are good shots. But we've only got two planes… and we'll be up there against dozens of bogeys."
"You know, normally I'd make some sarcastic remark about 'how' overwhelmed I am by your confidence in us, but those are some grim odds," the long hair male commented. "But if sabotage is what it takes, then fine."
"Glad to hear it," came the voice of Rose. "Now the roster is kept secret from the pilots, but not from the event staff. Our 'friend' Dimitri is our guy to go to. He'll know where the roster is hidden."
It didn't take much to find the weasel. "Dimitri," Nicholas said. "Funny seeing you here. Never pegged you as a fly boy."
"Like a dance floor with many lights, I have many profiles, dig?" the other male responded. "Don't even try to understand the silky enigma of Dimitri."

It took a bit of talking, but in the end the weasel agreed to give the flight roster but in exchange for a big favor. One that would require the team to help him in a couple months time. The roster was in the Baron's flight hanger. Then at that moment, the said guy came out into the lobby. But there was also another shock involved as it turned out the Mugshot was back and even had his team involved in the competition. The Baron said some words, including that no one was to leave the hotel after sunset. With that thought in mind, it was time for Topaz and Nicholas to head out. But they could go in their spy outfits for this.
It took awhile of a walk to get to the castle and dodging the guards patrolling the area. The way up had to be climbed. But during it, the two foxes could hear the Baron talking. Something about how there was a lot of good competition but nothing his team could handle. The vulpine and vixen then made it to the top and were inside. The place had the security around all the planes. It was going to take some timed jumps to avoid it. They soon had the roster and were back with the others.

Nicholas was the one as usual to present the plan. "Okay everyone, with the ACES flight line up, we know we're flying against Team Iceland and Belgium tomorrow in the semi-final rounds," the male explained. "As your all aware, we've only got two planes, while our opponents are flying 15 a piece. So the odds are against us."
"To give ourselves an advantage we'll need to pin these teams against each other. First, Kane and Stanley will head through the sewers to get at an air vent that's below team Iceland's hotel room. Steal one of their trademark viking helmets then come back here. Jade and Sapphire will take it from there and head over to Team Belgium's hanger. Then target one of their planes. Place the helmet on it to frame it on Team Iceland."
"Next Granite and Onyx along with me and Topaz will Team Belgium's priceless handkerchiefs. Meanwhile the Guru and Ruby will break into Team Iceland's supply truck carrying their lucky ice sculpture. Then me and Topaz can break into the safe and place the handkerchief in there to frame the other team for the crime."
"All the while Mendoza and Rose need to set up defenses around our hanger," Nicholas concluded. "You never know when one of the other teams might come around to do us harm."

Kane and Stanley were out first, but not before kissing their loved ones. The two males didn't like being separated from their wives like this but there wasn't much choice on their end. The raft had been found and they both went into the sewers. They had to avoid the traps down there since other pilots in the past had caused trouble down there. It took some time, but they got to the air vent. From there the driver guy was up next since he was smaller. Even though some crude traps had been set up, this person was able to easily avoid them and get the helmet.
Needless to say both felt pretty good. That is until they made it back. "What is that horrible smell?" Shale commented as the younger guys entered the room and sniffed the air.
"I smell it to," Nicholas pointed out.
"Great!" Kane snapped. "We do the dirty work in the sewers and come back smelling worse then old socks!" He then took a sniff himself over his body and turned to Stanley. "This could have a serious impact on the wife factor."
"No…" the elder arctic fox said. "I think it was that dinner I had while you guys were out." Sapphire and Jade were out next and both females found the perfect plane to target. With some quick work, they had it taken care of.

Topaz, her boyfriend, Onyx, Granite, Ruby, and The Guru were out next. But not before the mother vixen had kissed her little ones and husband; even if he smelled a bit. The other parents kissed their kits goodbye. They made out and saw the truck. Mendoza had given it bad directions so the group could have time to get at the statue inside. The older foxes along with the youngest ones went inside the hotel and the elders even had their own flight outfits. They got the handkerchiefs and went back outside. Ruby and the Guru had been talking a bit and were excited to work together. As soon as those two were contacted, they moved and got the truck open.
It didn't take long to get the statue and have it put in the right place. With that out of the way, Mendoza and Rose could focus on the defenses of the hanger. But trouble would come knocking in. It was a good thing they were in contact with Penelope who heard a rumor a rival air team could be stopping by to cause mischief. Everyone got into position. The doors were then forced open to reveal none other than Mugshot.

"Greetings Trog-O-lid-ites," the canine growled. "Didn't think I forgot your faces or Mesa City did ya? I figure you jerks let me smash up your aero-plane and we're even."
"Oh yeah?" Jade shot back. "You and what army, dumb guy?"
"Ok boys, I paid you off good enough, time to crack some skulls!"
Guards that the Baron had began to pour in. But their leader had to keep the doors open. While most took care of the baddies, Alexander and Victoria had the real pleasure of operating a huge hook that had an engine attached to it and ramming it into Mugshot by remote. After some hits, the enemy retreated, but not before threatening the group it wasn't over yet. Mendoza and Rose saw it to be true as the hanger was being threatened from below. They were able to take care of these baddies no problem.
It was then time to call in some backup. Penelope was abel to be contacted and even her face could be seen on some of the screens in the hanger. She was a mouse with glasses much like Nicholas and Mendoza align with a red bandana and mechanical suit. While it was a awkward first meeting, it was the perfect time to show what she could do with her remote controlled helicopter. She was able to get rid of the remanning attackers. Soon it was time for the round to begin.
Amethyst, Bill, Nicholas. and Topaz were quickly in the air. The four were able to win the fight with nice shooting and flying. That meant the group were on their way to the finals.
