Erlanna (full form)
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
From my novel, "Daggers of Darkness #3 - On the Trail of Legends":
Here's a view of Erlanna in her full (wyvern) form.
Erlanna is a (relatively) young Dra’kan, somewhere around 300-400 million Terran Standard Years. Dra’kans are one of the older members of the Elder Races in the Milky Way galaxy, having split off from the ancient Drakkorian race from Y’Nahra, and are immortal. Their immortality is seasoned by chance, however, in that they can die if mortally wounded through accident or purposeful injury. Dra’kans, however, are very tough—their scales are nearly indestructible by normal means. In her anthro form Erlanna is approximately 9 ft tall; in her full form she is 50 meters in length, nose to tail. Dra’kans gave rise to the myths and legends of dragons.
Erlanna’s scales are shiny silver in color, her mane is white, her claws appear to be crystalline though they are capable of tearing through normal matter, and her eyes are sapphire blue with vertical slit pupils. Like all Dra’kans, Erlanna can shift between her anthropomorphic and full forms at will, she can “breathe fire” by squirting two highly volatile hypergolic liquids, each from its own gland in her mouth, and exhaling forcibly. The two liquids will spontaneously ignite and she can—through psionic means—greatly intensify the heat produced to the point where it will melt the hardest rock and normal metals on contact.
Erlanna is beautiful, sweet, and pure of heart, though some of her innocence has been lost due to the actions of Kh’nar. Erlanna, in her full wyvern-like form, appears to be “bathed in light” and many find it irresistible to look upon her. She currently serves as the assistant to the venerable Dra’ka Nulen—the oldest and wisest of all Dra’kans, Arneora.
The two vertical streaks you see in the background are intentional--they're support pillars for the ceiling.

This piece I did almost entirely digitally. I had originally started drawing her using a 1.0mm Molotow "Liquid Chrome" acrylic ink pen, and it looked great...but it didn't scan well (turned out a dark gray) and the ink started to get odd spots in it, resembling dimples on a golf ball, though flat. It was the first time I used that type of pen and ink, and it took successive layers to get it to look shiny on paper. I don't think I'll use that ink again--it's not cheap to begin with ($1.00 USD / ml), and I'm not happy with the apparent unstable quality.
I drew the initial outlines using a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil with HB lead, then inked the outlines using a 0.1 mm Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen with black India ink. Everything else was done using Adobe Photoshop 6.0 (nearly a 20-year old program) and a Microsoft Intellimouse v.3 optical mouse (also rather old) on my little Lenovo N22 netbook computer. The original image was scanned at 1,200 d.p.i. in 16-bit grayscale, then converted to color in Photoshop. I was going to add more of a background, but since I added the "glow" (using the airbrush tool at 10% density) on the black background, it was too late to go back and add a more involved background. Oh, well.

Every hear of the story, "Forest Keep"? It was a pretty good story, though the guy never finished it, unfortunately. Still, if you like dragons, you might like to read it.

Anyway, yeah, he's a heck of a decent guy. Got to meet up with him once on his travels -- the guy really was comfortable going just about anywhere. Can't remember the story, but I was saddened that he let it go. He had a lot of amazing real life adventures himself, and I hope he one day resurfaces so I can see what he's up to. :P
Another story (actually a web comic) called, "Evil Diva", which was getting interesting, seems to have been abandoned. It was quirky, but had an interesting story line.
For a dragon (or wyvern, if you prefer), she's a looker in either form...and a real sweetie. She's the type of dragon I wouldn't mind hanging out with (well, I'd hang out with Arneora as well for sure, and maybe some of the other gals who I may draw). ;)
