The Wolf and the Shapeshifter

By

Foxpiper

A lone wolf walked amongst the darkness still,
Secluded by the night and winter's chill;
Howling toward the bleak and cloudless sky,
He filled the coldness with his solemn cry.

It was then she appeared from within the wood,
A goddess of change and allure there stood;
She looked like a jackal with a mouth-tipped tail,
Oh, what a sight in the midst of evening's veil.

The creature embraced him in her luscious fur,
A majestic coat of white and lavender;
He was surrounded by her tender caress,
The harsh, bitter winds becoming meaningless.

Once the wolf gazed into her loving eyes,
It was then that he came to realize;
This beautiful maiden of the night,
Surrendered to desire upon his sight.

Two hearts became one beneath the dark welkin,
Woven together from fervent passion within;
Inseparable were they with a love so bold,
Evermore complete until times untold.

In each other's arms they entered the forestland,
With frozen covered foliage endless and grand;
There they slept on the soft snow of winter,
Behold the love of a wolf and shapeshifter.
