Because the day was so dark and dingy with the rain and clouds, I opted to use HDR and some photo manipulations to enhance the image.

Long range photos, whether sunny or cloudy can be defined by using the polarized filter minus the UV filter.

Polarising filters have no to little effect when there is nothing but heavy clouds in the sky.
