The gun would have been better if I was using a ref. I have a bad habit of putting too much detail into my guns though so I was trying to simplify it. Obviously I went to far the other way. I didn't put a silencer on it because, if you read the story this is from, it's only a training rifle. You're right about the wood. I can't believe I did that. I spend my life around rifles. That was a total fuck up on my part.

Practice, practice, practice. Find an artists style that you like and try to draw like them. When your done with that, practice some more until you think you're ready. Don't be afraid to use a reference for your first few.
