\nChapter 3 - Surrounded by Strangers\n"Dad, do you think she'll be all right?"\n"Yep, I'd say so. She's still breathing and her bleeding stopped a while ago. \nOnce she gets some food and water she should almost be able to walk, depending \non how badly her shoulder is hurt."\nMy eyes bolted open and I saw I was in the back of a den with an adult male and \na younger wolf between me and the exit. I leapt to my paws, head down and hair \nraised, growling as deep as I could. The two males backed off slightly, startled \nby my sudden change in stance. \n"Whoa there, calm down. We won't hurt you." Said the older wolf, trying to speak \nvery calmly. \n"Yea, don't worry, I won't bite!" Said the younger one, chuckling slightly. \n"Hey there buddy, if you knew how many times I'd used that then you would know \nwhy that doesn't bring me any comfort." I snarled, still growling. \n"Look, I would suggest you lay back down, we don't know how badly you shoulders \nare damaged, they might be broken." The older male said. My drowsiness wore off \nand the pain was immediately relevant. My front legs buckled and I crashed onto \nthe ground with a grunt. \n"Reenin, you stay with her. I need to check on the rest of the pack." Said the \nolder wolf. \n"Ok Baldur, I'll say here." The younger one said, watching his father walk out \nof the den. \n"So, what's you name?" Reenin said hopefully. \nFor the greater part of a minute I just stared at him, trying to drive him out \nso I could escape. \n"Come on, open up a little bit." he said cheerfully, plopping back to a sitting \nposition, cocking his head to the side. Finally I decided to give a dog a bone. \n"My name's Leandra, but don't bother learning it, I won't be staying for long." \nI said, keeping away from making eye contact. \n"Leandra, hmm. I like that name. It's very, very pretty. Just like your eyes."\n"Want to came closer and say that again?" I said tauntingly, brandishing my \nclaws and ducking my head low. He backed off slightly, but only just. \n"Hey there, come on. Why are you so persistent in thinking we want to hurt you?" \nHe said inquisitively. \nI dropped back on the ground, keeping a weary eye on Reenin. He soon laid on the \nground across from me, glancing occasionally at the entrance. As the afternoon \nlight turned to dusk Reenin's ears bolted up and he quickly looked towards the \nentrance where Baldur was entering. \n"We are back from the hunt, so if your hungry, umm..." He stumbled slightly. \n"Leandra, her names Leandra." Reenin said, glancing between his father and I. \n"Yes, Leandra, if your hungry then the meat if just out this way." Baldur \nfinished, half expecting me to get up. Rather than go for the food, I just \nstared at him until he walked back out before I laid my head back down. \n"Well, that wasn't very nice of you now was it?" Reenin said jokingly. \n"And I give a damn why?" I snapped back, glaring at him. \n"Well why are you so ticked off all the time?" He asked, looking slightly hurt. \n"Either shut up or get out." I said, looking away from him. I'm not going to \nlie, I was getting tired. Tomorrow sometime I'll escape; tonight my shoulders \nare too hurt, but tomorrow I'll take off. Reenin didn't leave, but at least he \nstopped talking. Dusk turned to dark as I went to sleep. \n\n
