I'm sorry.
I didn't mean to hurt you,
I thought we were just having fun;
Everyone was laughing,
But I failed to notice
The only one not laughing
Was you.
I'm sorry.
It wasn't intentional,
Your adverse reactions seemed in-line
With the bit we were running;
I should've seen
That the feelings ran deeper than that;
How foolish of me,
To think so shallowly of you.
I'm sorry.
Your feelings are warranted,
You stepped away, needed a break;
You stepped away from me,
But I needed to know:
“Are you mad at me? Do you hate me?"
And when I received no answer,
I feared the worst.
I'm sorry.
My actions were wrong,
You blessed me with grace and forgiveness,
In a time where I believed I deserved neither;
How can I be so lucky,
To have an angel like you
Who would put up with a devil like me;
The shining halo above your head
Glows with brilliance, in stark contrast
To the shattered ring above mine.
I'm sorry.
I promise to you
To be more aware of you in our future,
If you'll give us a chance
To still have a future together;
I give you my word,
To give you my all
And to never take you for granted,
If you'd absolve me of my sin,
One more time.
This poem made me a bit sad, but I also enjoyed it. I'm glad to hear that everything is good now!
