I'm afraid it's unlikely. The abridged explanation is that a former contributor to the Sonic Archie comics, one Ken Penders, has taken his material away from the comics. Shard possesses a gem which is one of those materials. Coupled along with a universe reboot it seems unlikely we'll see Shard ever again. :(

Yeah, apparently they're trying to tie-in the stories from the games into the main plot - especially Sonic Unleashed - which is just plain awful now.

Well SEGA did demand that when Archie renewed their contract. In any case I actually enjoy the comics being closer to the games as it makes them seem like an expansion of them instead of another universe entirely. My only real gripe, outside the Ken Penders issue, is that apparently the "game-only" characters can't have any family whatsoever. A real shame as I enjoyed Sonic's parents in the comics.

I'd have no problem with the comic being closer to the game plots, if the game plots didn't suck all the time. I think it's only staying afloat because of the Megaman crossovers. I think I'm just going to stick to TMNT and Transformers, at least IDW knows what they're doing.

True, I will agree on the subject of IDW handling Transformers comics. I'm not so sure about the Mega Man crossovers being the sole reason Archie Sonic stays afloat. Not to disagree but just I haven't formulated an opinion on the idea. Though I can see your argument in the recent games having poor plots (and writing).
