Playing in the Sand
Here's my next urd'thin character sketch! This is Vakaal, one of the two main POV characters in Book 3 of Revaramek the Resplendent. ( Which starts around Chapter 59 or so, though he's in 3 or 4 chapters prior, as well. )
Vakaal and his father have an ability they call shaping, which allows them to alter and control the world around them. They live in a vast, mostly empty desert, and use their powers to protect and nurture their nomadic tribe. At least, Father uses his powers that way. Vakaal's still a pup when he first appears in the story, and is more interested in playing, singing, and dancing...
He's seen here having shaped himself a pedestal to stand on, while he watches his favorite treat, hand-fruit, float and spin over one hand...and calls the wind to spin the sand into figurines dancing above his other hand.
Ah, happier times, when a playful pup's innocence was still unblemished...
The world is his story now, and all he ever has to do is tell it...
