I'm at a big military convention, it's a personal road trip and I decided to go because I like technology and I'm always interested in the equipment the puts out. There's some tanks on display, other land vehicles, aircraft, weapons... the same crap the United States has been using since the late 80's or early 90's.

I think 'The same crap that I already know about, nothing exciting or new.' with a frustraighted sigh.

Suddenly I hear over the intercomm "Attention all attendents, there's going to be a big military reveal soon, please head to the arieal area to see the reveal."

I think 'Finally, something new!'

I go over to the arieal area and I see a very tall and long black curtain.

An announcer comes up and he's a marine in full uniform with a microphone in his hand. The marine says "Ladies and gentlemen, I will now show you our latest deployment system.", the curtain comes down, revealing something that looks like it's from Halo and he says "With help from Bungie, we have made this transport that will do what orbital drop shock troopers in their games do. This vessel can easily go through the atmosphere and back and deploy six men through drop pods behined enemy lines, welcome the expresser." with a snobish smile at the end.

The whole crowd cheers and I'm thinking 'It's a neat idea, but it seems outlandish.'

The marine says "It's incredibly easy to work the controls, anyone can do it. Who wants to try it out?" with the same look.

The whole crowd starts acting like it's second grade, raising their hands and saying "Oh oh, me me me me!"

I think 'I could use a laugh.' and I raise my hand with a smirk.

The marine looks at me, he points at me with his left hand and he says "You who's calmly raising their hand, come on up."

I think 'Okay, let's get this over with.' and I head over to him.

The marine says "What's your name?"

I say "It's Adam, sir."

The marine says "Well Adam, not only will you be testing the new machine, you'll be wearing the armor you wear in the game while you fly it."

Some guys come up to us, pushing a cart of O.D.S.T. armor and they start putting it on me. After they finally get the helmet on me the marine says "How's the armor?"

I say "It's comfertable."

The marine looks at the crowd and he says "And now Adam will board the expresser, he'll be all alone in the vehicle."

I think 'Don't remind me.' annoyed a bit.

I board the vessel, they seal it, I head to the cockpit and I sit in the chair.

I hear "Alright, just follow my instructions and we'll get this thing showed off." from the radio.

I follow the guys instruction, I get fasined in the seat and before I know it I'm in earth's orbit.

I decide to look around the cockpit, I see a switch that reads 'engauge warp system' and I think 'What the hey.' I flip the switch, I hear creaks and studders.

Over the radio I hear "Everything okay up there?"

The space in front of me twists with blues, white, purples and violets and it stops. I glance around to see that it looks like I'm caught in the middle of a big fight, between what looks like starships of some kind. On the left side there are blue and white ships and on the right the ships are red.

Over the radio I hear "This is General Pepper of the Cornerian military, who is this?" in a gruff male voice.

I answer the radio "My name's Adam, please get me out of here! This vessel can't fight!" frantically.

I hear Pepper's voice "We'll be there as soon as we can, but your going to have to defend yourself until then."

I say "I don't have any combat experience, but I'll improvise.", I start to look around the whole vessel seeing what I could find, I find four guns, two M1911 pistols, a remington 870 shotgun and a M4A1 assault rifle, three M67 grenades, I put the weapons in the cockpit, I find some thick looking steel panels and a arc welder and I quickly build a barricade just behind the two pods behind the cockpit.

I think 'Youtube don't fail me now." as I arm the four guns, I think 'Okay, I'll use one of the pods as a last resort, I hope it doesn't come to that though.' and I get behind the barricade with the rifle in my hands.

I hear loud clanks at the other end of the vessel, the location where the ramp is explodes and guys wearing red suits and holding these powerfull looking guns come in and they start shooting at the steel wall I've made.

I yell "BLAST!" and I start shooting at them with the rifle, with the bullets bouncing all over the place because I have no real training, I toss the rifle, I grab the shotgun and I start to use it, with it having better results.

The small skirmish is continuing and I'm using my rifle because I ran out for the shot gun, the rifle clicks and I think 'That's it, I'm down to my pistols.' I ditch the rifle again, I pull out the two pistols, I shoot them until both of them run out, I ditch the gun in my left hand and I reload the other pistol with the last magazine I have.

I look at the arc welder, I think 'That gives me an idea.', I go into the cockpit, I say "Pepper, if you're hearing this I'm leaving in a pod.", I grab the arc welder, I throw it towards the enemy, I pull the pins out of the grenades I throw them and they explode.

An alarm sounds, I ditch the pistol, I get in one of the pods, I hit the switch called 'eject pod', the pod seals up and it ejects from the vessel. I look up, the vessel I was on and the boarding craft explode.

I hear "Are you alright?" it's Pepper's voice.

I say "Yes, please get me out of this pod. I'm getting claustrophobic!"

I hear Pepper's voice "Don't worry, I have a team on route to pick you up."

I say "Thank you General Pepper."

A big ship comes into view, the front is dark gray and gray, I can see a red bridge and black and red wings with two of these openings on the front with one of them closed. My pod enters the open port and it hits the floor.

I get the pod open by hitting a button labeled 'open pod', I get out, I trip onto the ground, I take off my helmet and I say "Finally, safe and sound." with light gasps.

I feel my right shoulder being touched and I hear "Are you alright?" it's a womans voice with a bit of a british accent.

I look at the hand on my shoulder, it's a left hand with blue fur and white nails, I look up at the woman and she looks like an anthro fox. She's wearing a blue suit of some-kind, her face and chest are white, her furs blue, blue hair, teal eyes, her tail is blue with white at the end and she's wearing jewelry, which is a silver ring on her tail, some silver beads in her hair and a silver tiara with turquoise on it.

We look at each other with shocked looks, it's clear neither of us expected to see what we're seeing.

I decide to try to break the ice and I say "Hello." with a light smile, trying to cover up how nervous I am.

The woman says "Hello." still kind of shocked as far as I can tell.

I say "My name is Adam...", I hold out my right hand and I say "...What's your name?" still lightly smiling.

The woman shakes my right with hers and she says "I'm Krystal, it's nice to meet you."with a light smile.

I stand up, I glance around and I say "Where am I?" with a curious look.

Krystal let's go of my hand and she says "You are on board the Great Fox 2, a Cornerian assault carrier under the command of Team Star Fox." still lightly smiling.

I say "Are you guys special forces or something?" still with a curious look.

Krystal nods and she says "Yes, we're a special forces team that's part of the Cornerian military. But we can go anywhere we want to when not under orders, instead of doing what normal forces would do which is garrison and have shore leaves." still lightly smiling.

I say "Are you the leader of this team?" still with a curious look.

Krystal says "No, but let's get you to the bridge so that you can meet our commander. Please follow me." still lightly smiling.

I nod and I begin to follow Krystal. I glance around at this huge, massive hanger, there's some parts, tools and only four fighters by the looks of it. I think 'Only four fighters? For an assault carrier it doesn't have much to work with.'

I hear Krystal say "I agree."

I look at her, she's glancing at me and I say "How did you know what I was thinking?"

Krystal says "I'm the teams telepath and fourth pilot, trust me some get surprised by me." with a light smile.

I say "Telepathy? You're psychic?" with a curious smile.

Krystal nods and she says "Yes I am and where I'm from it's natural." still lightly smiling.

We both step into an elevator, she presses one of the buttons, the elevator doors close and I feel the elevator begin to move.

I begin to think of the soldiers I fought against on the vessel I was on, I know that fighting them was in self-defense and blowing up both ships was actually an accident, but those guys are dead because of me. I feel my left shoulder being touched, I look up at Krystal, she has a reassuring and comforting look and she lightly taps my shoulder.

The elevator doors open, revealing what looks like the bridge of the ship and we exit the elevator. Five individuals are standing at the front of the the bridge. There's an old-looking, fat anthro rabbit with lab cloths and glasses, with a gray and white fur combination and red eyes, a anthro frog with blue eyes wearing engineer cloths, a gold robot with a red visor, a anthro dark blue falcon with blue eyes, reddish orange around his eyes and wearing a pilot uniform by the looks of it and a anthro red fox with green eyes and wearing some kind of uniform.

I think 'If I'm asleep, this will all be explained.'

Krystal says "Fox, this is our guest. His name's Adam." with a light smile.

The red fox who's name is apparently just Fox says "He doesn't look like anything we've seen before, but welcome a board." with a light smirk.

Suddenly there's a beeping sound, the frog goes over to this terminal that looks like it's from Star Trek a little bit and he says "Fox, Pepper's trying to contact us."

Fox says "Put him through Slippy."

Suddenly a hologram of what looks like a old looking dog in some kind of red general-looking uniform appears.

I think 'So, this is General Pepper?'

Fox says "Sir, we recovered our guest." as he salutes.

Pepper says "Thanks Fox.", he looks at me and he says "So you're Adam?"

I nod and I say "Yes sir."

Pepper says "I've never seen a species like you before."

I say "I'm a human, from planet Earth."

Pepper says "Earth? There's no record of that planet."

The rabbit says "So he could be from outside the Lylat System?" with a curious look.

Pepper says "That seems to be the case Peppy."

I say "That would explain what I've seen so far.", I sigh and I say "This is a lot to take in."

Krystal says "How did you get here?" with a curious look.

I say "The United States military was revealing a new vehicle that was meant to drop forces behind enemy lines through the atmosphere. It seems to have had a warp system to move around the planet faster. I hit the switch, something happened and next thing I know I'm here. They basically chose me out of a crowd to prove that a regular civilian can use it."

Fox says "So they trusted a prototype to you that could have killed you?"

I say "Basically."

Slippy says "Wait, where your from you haven't mastered space travel?"

I say "No, we haven't. We only have gotten to our moon but we haven't been there in over forty years. However we've sent probes and satellites to further explore the galaxy."

Pepper says "Whatever the case of who he is and where he's from, I think it might be best if he stays with you guys. Bring Adam to Corneria."

The blue bird says "Wait, your assigning him to us?"

Pepper says "Not exactly, but he'll be safest with you. Besides he can help you around your ship as well."

I say "Sir, I have no idea what to do on a starship. I don't see how I could be of help."

Pepper says "They'll show you the ropes, plus the team can learn a few things about you and your race."

Fox says "But does the fleet here need help fight the enemy fleet?"

Pepper says "They can handle it Fox. You've got your orders." and the hologram turns off.

Fox looks at the robot and he says "Rob, set a course for Corneria and get us there as fast as you can."

Rob says "Affirmative, we'll be on our way soon." with a robotic male voice as he heads over to which seems to be the ships helm.

Fox comes up to me and he says "A temporary quarters will be given to you and any belongings you may have."

I nod and I say "Thanks." with a light smile.

Krystal says "Do you even have any belongings?" with a curious look.

I shake my head and I say "No I don't. All I got is that pod, this suit and my cloths underneath it."

Krystal says "That isn't much, when we get to Corneria we'll have to get you somethings."

Fox says "I agree." with a solid nod.

Krystal looks right at me and she says "I'll take you to your quarters Adam." with a light smile.

I nod with a light smile and I begin to follow Krystal.
