I turned to the last page of the book and read it loud and proud.
"And Nate and Cyd lived happily ever after. The End."
Luke was sitting on my lap and reading from the book I held in front of us; the book that I wrote. Although he was only a few years old and couldn't even read, he loved to stare at the pages and pretend he knew what they said. My abnormally extensive tail was stretched out across his two tiny paws and he squeezed it every time he felt extra happy, sad, or just excited. Like father like son, right?
"But what did you do after that daddy?" Luke asked with an inquisitive expression. He was very smart for his age.
"After that, Cyd proposed to me and we got married," I replied, pushing down on his small, sweet nose.
"And after that?" he continued.
"After that we adopted a baby together."
"Was that me?" his eyes widened and his jaw dropped. He knew the answer, but he loved being told he was part of the story, his favorite story.
"Yea that was you!" He jumped up higher into my arms and I pulled him in close to me. Although he was not my blood child, our bond wasn't any less than that. He meant more to me than anyone could ever imagine; he was one of the only two boys I'd ever share my life with.
I looked up and spotted Cyd staring shirtless in the hallway. His grin was unexplainably high and he was enjoying every second of the moment I was sharing with Luke. He loved our son just as much as I did, I could see it in his eyes every time that he saw Luke.
The scars from his bullet wounds were slowly fading away every day. They didn't bother him, nor I, but it was still nice to see them drift away. It was as if a piece of our past was moving on, but not being forgotten.
"Hey Luke, how about you go jump in bed for me and I'll be there to tuck you in in a sec, okay?" His gorgeous blue Husky eyes looked into mine and I couldn't help but let my mind bathe in his innocence. Although we all grow up so fast, we never lose that innocence that we keep stored deep within us, we only push it away. Having a son, or a child at all in fact, helps you regain control of your innocence; it was something that Cyd and I both finally got to grasp again.
Luke jumped off of my lap and quickly raced upstairs as if he was running in a marathon. Cyd and I both laughed at his immaturity before walking slowly into each other. I looked up at his flawless fur and he looked back down at me. We shared a kiss that somehow beat all the rest; just like the one before it had; it only got better and better.
"Enjoy the show?" I asked him sarcastically. He chucked a bit underneath his breath and nodded in concurrence.
"I think it's funny how he plays with your tail the same way I do," he replied.
"I guess it's a tail for two, huh?" We both laughed like kids with a crush, and exchanged looks once again.
"Look Nate, I wanted to say sorry for everything that happened." I held my finger up to his mouth, silencing him before he said any more.
"Shh, it's all in the past now."
"I know, but after you wrote your book, I can't stop thinking about-"I leaned forward and kissed his lips with as much passion as I had in my body. He put just as much effort back and we stood there for a good five minutes sharing our feelings for each other through action and not words.
"Now you have something else to think about, right?" He bit his lip and nodded in embarrassment. I loved seeing him blush. "I've got to go tuck Luke into bed, wait in bed for me okay?"
"Okay." I turned around and made my way towards the stairs, but, just as I expected, I was interrupted mid-flight. "Hey Nate?" Cyd asked from below.
"Yea?" I asked.
"I love you." I turned my head and looked down into his amazingly perfect blue eyes. A smile grew wide on my face and my heart grew butterflies like it was the first day we met. "I love you too, Cyd."
Cyd and I went through a lot together when we first met, but now things have changed. We've been married for about 15 years and adopted a gorgeous son that we named after my only brother. All has gone pretty good for us since then. Sure we have our fights and disagreements, just like any healthy relationship, but in the end we don't care who was right and who was wrong; we just love each other completely and remember how lucky we are to have each other again. I want to thank you all for taking the time to read this and to share this story with me. This is who I am and what I've become and I can't imagine it any other way. When I first introduced myself to you, I told you that I wasn't just a normal guy. I told you that my story wasn't like everyone else's. While that is still true, I can't help but tell you that my story ended like a fairy tell. As much as I hate to do it, I've got to end this story the only way that will fit my feelings perfectly.
Cyd and I lived happily ever after. The End.
*****************************
Well there you have it, AT42. Thank you to everyone who followed this story from start to finish, I also want to thank those of you who picked up this story half-way through and those who are just reading it for the first time ever. I hope you all enjoyed it and I hope you had as much fun and as much of a ride as I did when writing it. I'm very sad that this is over and finished, but at the same time I'm very happy that I got to tell this story of Nate and Cyd. I love you all and without your support I would've never made it this far. Please, if you enjoyed this story, recommend it to your family, friends, and lovers. I'd also very much appreciate it if you could fav or rate or especially comment and tell me your thoughts on my story and my writing. I love you all and I can't thank you enough for your support.
In other news, I'd like to give a note of what I felt about this story. This story really hit home for me. It involved many events and aspects that happened to me in life while adding a lot more twists, suspense, and action into it. I hope that in one way or another I appealed to your emotions or your mindset. My goal when writing is to connect to you as people, even if it is for only one small moment in the story. Keep in mind that this was my first full story that I've ever written. I've been back to read it over and over again, and I can admit that I made many mistakes. There are many moments that I wish I could fix, many moments that I think i got too carried away, and many moments that I feel just didn't fit or shouldn't belong. But, this story is what it is, for both the good and the bad. And I will leave it just as it is now.
Thank you so much everyone. (: I love you all so much, and I hope to see you again soon (: Thanks for everything. I'm nothing without my fans <3
SOOO much love from me to you,
Nate (:
And dang *giggles* Nate didn't end up with Rainy ;P
You did a very good job up until this chapter, it was great for a wrap up, but lacking. Yes I do understand it is already seventeen chapters with this, but maybe just one more, for Nate and Cyd's aftermath? Just a little one even to clear things up.
Otherwise it was, in my eyes, perfect. I'm really glad you found the time to finish it (and after reading Chapter 15's intro I hope everything is okay)
Now, as I've said before, and will say over and over and over again NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER STOP WRITING! You have such a great talent. <3
Best of luck with everything,
Rainy Day <3
I really grew attached to the characters, especially Nate <3 He's definitely my favorite. Quick note: DID ANGIE NEVER GET THE VOICEMAIL FROM CHAPTER 4 OR DID SHE JUST START IGNORING NATE?!?! And I loved Little Luke <3
Mkay Thats my take on the story :D great job. This was one of the first and definitely the best furry story I've ever read!!!
Thank you for your support and it means a ton that you think it's the best! haha Hopefully ill be able to impress you farther in the future (: stay tuned!
Best of luck:
TheElementalGuardianDragon
Catch ya later <(^_^)>
As for Nate's mother, I did mention her a few times, very subtle though. Like when Ralph threatens to hurt Nate in front of his mother, it indicates that she is still alive and okay. Although it's not said straight out, it's one of those things I want you to think about and imagine for yourself.
As for Cyd's family: Cyd didn't care much about his father, so in response he wasn't care much for in the story. I kinda wanted to get the point across that Cyd and his father weren't very accepting of each other and therefore didn't think or care about each other much. Since this story focuses around Nate and Cyd, the details mentioned are reflected off of what they were thinking, and since Cyd didn't care much for his father, not much was written about him.
Hopefully that made since XD
I've already finished the first chapter of my new series, im just debating on giving AT42 time to settle before posting it or not
I'm surprised how far you've come along! You didn't have many people at first but damn people latched on quick! And the story evolved amazingly, very well thought out and great use of emotion, and I can't wait to see more from ya!
Buttt, there are a few errors here and there, nothing major. And some things that didn't add up, no offence to you, I'm sure you proofread these chapters before posting. But another glance or two would help here and there.
And finally.... HA! TEAM CYD FTW! ^^ Might think about downloading Steam just to pick your brain >:3
yea like ive said, this was my first story that I've ever fully completed, so i understand that it's going to have a lot of loose ends. I'm hoping to learn and grow from here on out so that as I progress as a writer i learn more about tying those things together more nicely (:
thanks for the comment, it means a lot, and maybe ill start up another steam account soon (: or even right now lol, who knows (;
Very good job by the way, its rare I find something here that I really really like, and this story is one of them :P
well,first off, omgbeststoryeverjustlikecrack
Now, on to a more civilized tone. Thankyou, your story has brought me many new emotions, all good, that I would not have experienced without it, you are a truly gifted writer. It has touched me, and I need to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, the inspiration you have given me. I have used this story as a support to get me through my rough times. What you might think of as a silly story, is the reason I am alive and happy today, not only did it help me through coming out, and breaking up with an abusive sickened ***hole, but it also helped me through getting back into my family. Thankyou. also, 5 points for getting it done! *highfives*
Sorry if it was a rushed ending at all, i didn't mean to give that appearance, hopefully it was still good enough to impress >.
Ps: you got band from steam for not Playing any game for like it month or two or something (: and pss xP can't wait to talk with yiu again on steam or Facebook. Gonna hate the time zones. But yeah thanks again again again nate, you're wonderful sweety (:

A beautiful way to end a beautiful tale...FOR TWO!!! Hehe ^^ BRAVO!!
It's been 5 months since I read chapter 14. A lot has happened in those 5 months; some good, some bad. I had a few hours before work today, and a thought crossed my mind: "Hey, you haven't checked in on AT42 in MONTHS. You should go catch up!"
,,,So here I am, staring at the comment box for the epilogue, and trying to find the right words to describe your finale.
I've enjoyed every single chapter of your story. It's been an absolute pleasure <3. 15 and 16 flew right by, and this epilogue actually brought a few tears to my eyes. Great work. You've pulled together one hell of an ending. I'm sorry I'm so late in telling you that ^^;;.
It looks like I might just have a chance to make up for being late on this one, though.
I've done a bit of editorial work before, and I've even had a few papers published. I might be able to lend a hand here. You still need someone to read through for spelling and grammatical errors?
I am pleased :)
This is very profound stuff, surreal yet cute. You sir, have made my day (yes, day, I read this in like 30 minutes or so, and loving every word)
Please continue to write more masterpieces. Thanks alot! :)
