MSM #9 Garurumon Encounter...
* Production - Straight forward on this image, started with the sketching phase using several screen grabs to get the Digimon's appearance to look right. Coloring started with the background and then moved on to the characters before finishing details and shading were added to complete the image.
* Story - What if Digimon appeared in the real world? If it happened I think a scene like this might be the result, especially in first encounters with people where almost everyone has a mobile device. In this image I pictured myself being over at a friend's place one day and we saw something large coming through the trees. My friend's place is at the edge of a forest that carpets a large hill and there is a dirt alleyway that runs behind the house. When we saw this large white and purple animal moving through the trees we went outside to get a closer look. When the creature finally emerged from the bush we were shocked to see this full sized Garurumon striding towards us but it didn't come towards us at first. When we moved it made what we took to be growling sounds, its blade like spines stood out and looked to us like a threat display. It bluff charged us a couple of times but always stopped at the edge of the road. I went to the garage and got a step ladder, set it up, climbed up and took out my phone and watched this massive Garurumon bluff charge me. It came so close that my friends thought I was going to get attacked but it stood there and looked at me as I took pictures of it. When it opened its huge maw my friends took this picture of me taking pictures of its mouth. . . I have to admit that I was quite nervous about what was going to happen but in the end nothing did. After a few minutes the Digimon's curiosity about us seemed to be satisfied and it walked back into the trees and disappeared. For days and weeks after this encounter my friends told me that they would occasionally see it again at the edge of the forest behind their house.
