\n I hereby declare, this very day,
\n an open season, on all the prey.
\n On geese, and ducks, and mainly deer
\n so human kind has naught to fear
\n from overpopulated creatures
\n breaking the cars upon their features
\n destroying gardens, lawns, and trees.
\n Disguising coats shift in the breeze
\n They stand, so tempting for us to hunt,
\n for their own good, we shoot the runt.
\n In theory only, but a hunter wants
\n a healthy body, theirs to flaunt.
\n For their own good, there are too many
\n they'll just die if we don't kill any
\n of disease and shortages of food
\n so shooting them is far from crude.
\n The worst animal for this
\n whose numbers are very amiss
\n walks not on four legs, nor has wings,
\n feathers, fur, those kinds of things,
\n but hairlessly creates a tool
\n their environment with which they rule
\n their numbers unchecked keep on growing
\n somehow still they are unknowing
\n they can not see they soon will die,
\n hungry in their graves they'll lie
\n to become soylent green tomorrow
\n since streets cannot be tilled or furrowed
\n so by all means, it's open season
\n on geese, ducks, deer, and humans
\n the last being the target mainly
\n we'll shoot them, put them down humanely
\n their screams and fear they matter not,
\n we know better, it is their lot
\n a bloody blade removes their skin
\n watched from the woods by their own kin
\n cooked and eaten, or left rotting
\n in a bag tied up with knotting.
\n It is still better for these dears
\n than starving out over the years
\n but here's a thought, truly are they
\n so overpopulated as we say
\n or is it really us, by reason,
\n the species who needs death this season.

\n i'm really in a couplet-y mood lately, not sure why.  i got out of the couplet thing for awhile there and just just finished this.  unrelated: ugh endrhyme *shudders* (but i love it)

\n anyhow, i don't mind hunters or meat eaters, i personally just try to avoid it if i don't need to, but it BOTHERS me when people justify it.  if you're going to go hunting, just be like "i want to go hunting...that's why i hunt" and then just don't be wasteful (letting it sit on the ground is still better than those idiots who leave it in a plastic bag hanging from a tree), but when you say "i hunt because they're overpopulated" that's just being dishonest, or "hunting the sick ones," that's just a lie.  be honest, you're hunting because you want to hunt.  is there something WRONG with that?  (unless you're hunting people, then i recommend secrecy...the government frowns on it)
