A rather grumpy Alex has just been woken shortly after climbing into her gloriously comfortable bed after another eventful nightshift.
Meanwhile the postman has just got an unexpected thrill!
Alex is one of the main characters in a story I'm working on. She's an officer in a police force which I haven't come up with a good title for yet but based on my local force, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
She's very enthusiastic, eats, sleeps and breathes policing, volunteers for everything (much to her partners annoyance)
Intelligent but 'book smart', believes in following procedures and protocol even when a different approach would be best, given time she'll come up with a plan that would make a five-star general weep with envy but sometimes suffers a mental BSOD when something unexpected happens.
Introverted, idealistic, quiet and softly spoken, she's somewhat naive and always thinks the best of people even when its not appropriate.
Good-natured and friendly but quick-tempered. People sometimes mistake her quietness for coldness and aloofness.
Tomboyish but in touch with her feminine side.
