Ruler of the Night
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
"When we were kids were always afraid of the dark because we didn't know what was out there. As adults, we're afraid of the dark because we know what's out there."
Hello all! I have more dragon art for you all and as always it is based on one of the species from Where Dragons Rule. This piece is based on the Nightstalker, a dragon feared for its hunting prowess. Despite being the largest species, it's also the fastest. They're near unbeatable in the dark.
Once again, I want to offer a heartfelt thanks to Athavan for creating this piece. There's still more dragon content to come. There are more species to cover and I'll be releasing new chapters soon.
Until then, stay safe everyone and happy reading.

How typical are each of these images of their corresponding species? By that I mean, what features of each image do you imagine all individuals of that species having in common? Does it vary from image to image?
For example: The Nightstalker here. Do you imagine all of them having that hooked avian beak or are there differences between one Nightstalker and the next?
That's a pretty tough question. I would imagine each image as the baseline for each species. It would be pretty boring if they all looked exactly the same so there are discrepancies in size, weight, and color. But I tried to limit it to a specific spectrum so it doesn't feel all over the place.
Take the Nightstalker for example. The black scales and large size are the most defining features. Everything else will vary. Some may not even have a hooked beak, especially cross-breeds. The size and curvature of the horns can vary. Then you have some that are thicker or shorter than others.
Some features will not carry over, however. For the Nightstalker, they don't have the armored look of Ravagers or the thicker tail that Stormbornes have. They also always have black scales. The exact shade will vary, some of them look almost purple but you won't ever see a red or a green Nightstalker.
Hope this answers your question! :)
The reason I had asked in particular about the hooked beak was I curious if that was just a facial characteristic of an individual or a trait more integral to the look of a particular species such as the large size and black coloration.
I really enjoy seeing these pictures for each of the species of your story. I'd imagine you must have some kind of input on them so I take these to be true to what you imagine for the dragons in your story. It is fun to make one's own mental picture of course, but I also thought it was interesting to compare and contrast my imagery against the images made for you by this artist.
Loving the story and the latest additions! Take care out there.
