(at least for a non-native like me ^^' whereas I really rarely have problems to understand something in English...)
his 'the valley is full of trees too' had on first read make me think he talked about where Des and Chani live, thus making the second sentence even more confusing . . . at least for me XS

It's Tabatha talking about how nice the valley that they (Desmond's family) live in is. Perhaps "Our home is in this lovely valley full of trees, although none as pretty as Chani has here of course."
Oh, and that is Tabatha rather than Simon. I probably should have had a close up shot showing this earlier. I'm finding the border-less style has this problem.
[EDIT: OW... yeah... stupid me... Simon has the same markings under his eyes... but his eyes are blue... not to mention the horns . . . totally overlooked that XO]
