We're almost out of it. My office is back to full function, and we're hoping to have home restored by tomorrow night.

I had to take last Monday off from work because the storm was due east of Miami Sunday. I couldn't quite figure out why they decided to close where I work when the storm never even threatened our coast. (We got a little wind Monday but that was the gist of it.)

Be grateful. Not a bad ass storm; just a very destructive one.

Yeah. I read in the news that several of the larger NE cities lost power but little more than that.

Downed trees. Where I live, it's heavily forested.

Ah. I love forests. If I could, I'd live in the middle of one and dare anybody to bother me without my permission.

I've got 4 acres all to myself.

I'd want at least 1,000 but I could never afford the taxes.

Empty land that's not buildable isn't too bad

Ah, yes. Believe me, there's plenty of that along one of the rivers near my home. I'd build my house on one of the "islands", high pieces of land that stay dry when the river is in flood stage. Then, I'd just settle down and enjoy my solitude. Of course, the bad thing would be getting electricity to that land but I'd figure out some way to do it.

Life without electric isn't much fun. Making your own electricity isn't either.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe if I get enough hamsters, I could attach a bazillion alternators to their wheels. That might make me enough electricity to run my household's electric appliances. LOL
