Full ref - Mirena
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
“This is just an exercise in futility” you tell yourself while laying down on the deckchair by the beach, trying to relax despite your hands clenching around the armrests nervously.
You slowly and deliberately begin to inhale and exhale, eyes closed in an attempt to empty your minds of thoughts and take in just your surroundings through your other senses: the gentle breeze coming from the sea, the smell of seawater reaching your nostrils, the rhythmic sound of the waves… the tides silently rising, a big wave suddenly swallowing you up, carrying you away from the safety of land and amidst the overwhelming vastness of the open sea, surrounding you from all directions, even from below as your legs kick helplessly, unable to find purchase atop the dark unknown of the abyss that could also swallow you at any moment…
You open your eyes with a gasp: you’re actually still on your deckchair, yet your heart is racing… they said this exercise might help you overcome your thalassophobia, but hasn’t worked so far…

You open your eyes with a gasp: you’re actually still on your deckchair, yet your heart is racing… they said this exercise might help you overcome your thalassophobia, but hasn’t worked so far…
Just about then, a bather enters your field of view as she emerges from the water, elegantly throwing back her long, wet dreadlocks, their light pink and purple dye contrasting nicely with her dark skin. She walks ashore as if through a catwalk, making a nice display of her supple and generous curves with each alternating step of her thick, sexy thighs, accentuated by the pearls draping onto them from her minimal costume… you can’t help but ogle her generous bosom as well, until the gleam of the topaz on her bellybutton piercing finally redirects your naughty gaze elsewhere. Equally gleamy is a pair of large silvery earrings dangling from her ear-fins, the only telltale sign of her being an aquatic hybrid of some kind.
Her gorgeous looks are such a nice distraction you almost forget about the vast, scary sea extending in front of you. In fact, you fail to realize she’s walking towards you or that your lecherous gaze is a bit too obvious.

“Have you seen enough?” you hear, awakening from your fixation.
“OH! I… what can I say, I have eyes only for beautiful women…” you reply; a poor, cheesy last-minute save. Except she seems to like it.
“In that case, since I work hard on my looks, thank you… and I’ll even tell you more: you’re a nice guy yourself, why are you here all alone and not enjoying a bath~?”
That suggestion is almost enough to trigger your phobia again.
“B-but… I… already am! Because I’m SUN-bathing, eheh…” you answer, trying to derail the conversation with a joke.
At first, she has no reaction at all, her long eyebrows moved only by the wind while her hazy and milky eyes remain unblinking… only after a noticeable delay her coloured lips curl into a smile.
“That’s a funny one, I’ll grant you that…” is her enigmatic response; “…and what do you say to taking a little stroll with me?” she continues, already offering her hand.

You’re compelled to say yes: her oddity, beauty and mystique are too great to not investigate! And so you take her hand and begin to walk together, parallel to the shoreline, not daring to go any closer to the sea… chitchatting at first, until you gradually get more informal and switch to even personal topics. She turns out to be such a good listener, so understanding, welcoming… even comforting at times. You seem to be an open book for her, so much so she eventually just asks:
“…and why the sea scares you so much?”
Your eyes widen in shock for how easily she exposed your phobia.
“Your hand stiffened every time you got the sense I was about to change direction towards the sea. Although I didn’t need to deduce it from that…” she says without turning her head before you can even ask how she noticed, eyes staring at the air… in fact, she hasn’t once made direct eye-contact with you.
Tempted, you wave your hand in front of her face: no reaction… no way! All this time she was actually…
“…Blind? Yes… and no. I just perceive the world differently. You keep dodging my question though”
You’re now shocked AND confused… how does she keep…
“…reading your thoughts? Exactly. You didn’t notice I never actually said a word to you, did you? I was merely broadcasting my thoughts into your head. But enough talk: I know you wish to be ridden of your thalassophobia… I might help with that. However, I first need to know what triggered it in the first place. And if you don’t focus on it, it’s hard for me to sift through all your memories to find out… trust me~”

And here's my first entry of MerMay! Though I'm not following any particular challenge, just sharing some characters and stories in tune with the overall theme of the month...
Also, despite my attempts at keeping this short, expect a second part to this mini-story on my following post, which will be featuring my nymph Mirena once again! Be warned it will be marked NSFW though ;)
