KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
The bed was soft, warm and fluffy, unlike her old one, which was made from cheap fibers, this one felt high quality and comfortable. She found it difficult to want to get up. She turned and changed positions in her bed until she decided it was about time to face the new world. She groaned as she pulled herself out of bed. The cooler air of her new bedroom welcomed her warm scales. After getting up from her bed, she found she was still wearing her clothes from yesterday.A smile growing on her face as she pulled off her jacket and hugged it to herself. Her foot bumped a footlocker at the end of her bed and found her new clothes folded neatly inside. She pulled out her new robe, running her hand over the seams, expertly sewn by Tasha. It looked like something someone important would wear.

Alduin knew she didn’t need to change her clothes. She didn’t sweat anymore so they were still fairly clean, but she thought it would be rude if she didn’t at least try out what Tasha made her. After pulling it on. She stretched her legs and arms, she found it was loose and comfortable, air flowing nicely through it. Finding herself satisfied, she finally left the confines of her room and headed downstairs to the kitchen.

She found the room empty and clean, some plates were stacked by the sink and a sticky note was attached to the fridge. Picking up the note, it read
“Good morning Sleepyhead!
I’ve gone out busking and Octavius is still working.
There’s some ingredients in the fridge and junk food in the tallest cabinet.
Make yourself at home. :)
– Silver.”
Alduin smiled at the note and stuck it back onto the fridge before taking a peek inside. She found it was well stocked, thinking of making herself a nice warm breakfast she pulled out a few sausages, rashers and beans. That was until she went to the stove and paused. It was a gas stove, Alduin had only ever used an electric stove in her old apartment and they never taught students how to use an old style gas stove in home economics, back when she took the class.

She went to reach for her phone, before realising it wasn’t in her pocket and likely wouldn’t work, recalling silvers comment about technology and whatever field Kulvinar was built in preventing them from working. She frowned, recalling what the Hunters used to say on the posters and pamphlets they used to hand out about Kulvinar.  Shivering, she pushed the thoughts aside, beginning to put away the ingredients, settling on just making herself a sandwich.

After making herself a small ham sandwich and cleaning up once she had finished it, her hunger satisfied. Alduin thought back to visiting the doctor from the previous day and his instructions. She returned to her room and looked inside her foot locker again. Finding new bandages and the cream partially hidden underneath her new clothes. She tossed them onto the bed and removed her robe and the bandages from the previous day. She found her wound was still there, and thankfully she could see her scales again. After applying a small amount of the ointment to her fingers, she spread it around the wound. Her scales got slight pins and needles like feeling in them for a few seconds, until she rather sloppily wrapped her shoulder in fresh bandages.

Once she was satisfied with her work, she put back on her robe and decided to get familiar with what will be her new home for the time being. Standing out on the landing just outside her bedroom. She felt curiosity tugging at her to take a peek inside what she assumed to be Octavius and Silver’s rooms. Rationalising that a peek wouldn’t hurt. She leaned into her room's closest neighbor. This room was minimalistically decorated. The walls were a beige red colour with the bed and wardrobe painted to match. The only thing that didn’t was a green exercise mat, set out on the floor and some weights stacked up against the wall. No doubt this was Octavius's room.

Returning to the landing, she peeked into Silver’s room, not very surprised by what she saw. Blue painted walls with a white bed, posters of various famous musicians covered the walls, a few Alduin recognised, she saw a sheet music stand propped up against a wall with a few music theory books scattered about on the floor. Clothes were tossed haphazardly into a basket in the corner, blocking the white painted wardrobe in the corner.

She made her way down stairs again and spotted a doorway off to the side of the kitchen. She entered the room after a moment of contemplation and found herself in a small, cosy living room. two white recliners sat opposite to each other in the side of the room, both sat next to a small fireplace and a large, well stocked bookshelf. Opposite to the fireplace was a large, tinted window that looked out to the streets behind the house, mostly unremarkable besides the strange box that was sitting on the window sill. Approaching it and picking it up. The box was about as large as a good hardback book and had a needle, buttons and a knob on its front face, as well as a slot for something. What she found most striking was the large antenna sticking out from the top of it.

Figuring that she would ask Silver about it later. Alduin put it back where she found it and peeked through the door attached to this room. She found a nice and clean bathroom, mostly unremarkable with all the essentials. A toilet, bathtub, towel rack and a sink with a mirror attached. Alduin paused and approached the mirror, finding herself drawn to it. She  gazed at the person staring back at her. A dragon, with ink black scales and large green eyes and green tinted scales flowering just under her eyes. Long, jagged horns jutting out from the back of her head. Alduin just stared at her reflection. Taking in every minute detail, the colours meshing, the shape of her scales, the rings on her horns, the sharpness of her teeth.

Despite it being two months since she had changed she still wasn’t used to her new appearance. She missed her old face, seeing this unfamiliar one in the mirror was jarring, even intimidating. The only thing she kept from her old look was her eyes, even then they had grown in size. She missed her hair, she always took care of it and was proud of how she styled it, now it was gone. Frowning, she forced herself away from the mirror, intent on finding a way to distract herself.

She quickly found herself browsing the bookshelf, seeing a large assortment of novels and manuals. “Meditation and Morals”, “History of Dragons”, “Ring of The Lords”,”Trek Through the Stars”, “Emotions and Yourself”, “Scale Maintenance and Care” . Alduin remembered reading through Ring of The Lords when she was younger but could barely remember anything from it. So she settled on that book and sat herself down on one of the recliners and began to read.
