Lustre Zeal Prototype pg 1
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
And so begins a new adventure, Lustre Zeal : The Vanishing World! An into other world fantasy adventure (cough) Isekai (cough) that is in no way a nostalgia trip or an homage to the kind of manga and videogames I grew up with in the eighties and nineties. Good lord that makes me sound old saying that in the . . . what year is this? You know what, no one reads these introductions anyways, so let's just focus on the comic shall we? I've been bouncing characters and scenarios around in my head for about, oh, the last three years or so, and I've finally gotten my skills to the point where turning them into an actual comic seemed semi-feasible. And while I may not be the world's greatest artist the mistakes here are mine and I'm learning as I go so if you stick around expect things to be very experimental until an overall look and feel starts to emerge. Shouldn't take too long, maybe about fifty pages or so. Until then, the backstory . . . or the prologue . . . or the visual epigraph? I'm not really sure what its called but I've seen a ton of comics begin by establishing some sort of mood or conflict in the first few pages so since I begin all of my work by posing a question to my self, communicating that visually proved to be an interesting if mildly confusing challenge. Needless to say the internal debate on whether a symbolic, metaphoric or allegorical representation of the concept of being offered the opportunity to begin a new life still rages on. Though if one were to think of it in terms of how we as humans invest ourselves in the characters we create in games to represent us either on-line or off-line, the feelings of loss that arise when that character dies, or the sense of separation that occurs when a save file is deleted, should help to serve as some indication of as to what my thoughts behind the composition of this scene were.
