Just a couple of characters, Asim and Mana.

Asim is the legendary Leviathan, demon god of Envy, the older man. After eating angels, he gained a conscience, as well as another form. Several years after this, he met a young fox demon, Mana, and saved her from a human who'd trapped her using an iron collar and a special charm. The two eventually become friends, then Mana begins to view him as a father figure, though she's nervous to admit it.
The two adventure across the world together, growing closer, though Mana's still frightened of his demon form, and what he would do if he lost control of it.
After some prompting, Mana finally admits why she sticks to Asim like a shadow: She's a wanted fox. Her clan is out to kill her after she killed one of her clanmates, and Mana knows eventually they'll find her.
Asim, having grown attached to the little fox, vows to protect her.
The inevitable occurs, and she is captured. Asim arrives to save her...

Only to hear her scream "papa" before she is executed.
