My stories are set in a slightly more futuristic modern world, but my characters shun technology and modern weaponry. I like medieval themes too. There's just something timeless about them.
Samiake doesn't need armour or shields. He can manipulate shadows to act as armour. He's also quick enough to evade hits. I'll be writing his story soon, so keep an eye out for it.

Just remember he can use shadows to fight as well...and those gauntlets. He could even turn your own shadow against you, should he wish.
